oh cool, I saw him give a lecture a while back where he was playing some of those nightingale recordings and slowing them down, there's some really amazing and complex stuff you can't really hear at normal speed.

Wow, I came across a CD (or perhaps a double CD) of dog shelter recordings in the early oughts. Lost it in a bureaucracy-run-amok incident. I've been looking for it ever since. Dogs of Breslau looks too young to be it though.

I remember the kss-kss-kss-kss of my minidisk recorder getting all over my recordings. Homebrewed a male->female 3.5mm extension cable for my condenser mic, which helped...measurably.
