I really like the Mindbenders and I’m looking forward to learning about more of their songs that I’m not so familiar with
Avatar 7:06pm

The original show had just a handful of songs - this is more of a history of the group
Avatar 7:09pm
Natalie:

I won't ask how much time you put into "enhancing" this episode. I'll just enjoy the spoils of your efforts.
Avatar 7:09pm

In 1994, I wrote liner notes for a CD collection of their music and I learned a great deal and fell in love with their records.

I won't answer how long, Natalie - because it was a little too long!

Hi Mom.

There is a 2 cd set with the Complete Mindbenders output -minus Wayne- which is very good. Bought it Amoeba one time I went to Los Angeles.
Avatar 7:24pm

Wayne did make some good records - I went through them all and will be playing my favorites today.
  7:26pm
Javi from Argentina:

Is the one called "Wayne One" good?
I have it in my wantlist
Avatar 7:28pm
cometothesunshine:

Not great, Javi - more good tracks on B-side of 45s - although there is a CD that has most of them.
  7:29pm
Javi from Argentina:

I will look into it, Andrew. Thank you.
  7:29pm
Javi from Argentina:

Andrew, did you ever work with the Teensville label?
They release lots of sunshine pop comps dubbed from 45s and if you team up some amazing CDs could be released. I suspect they don't license the recordings from the record labels but they seem legal as they are sold everywhere.
  7:30pm
Javi from Argentina:

Finally, a Phil Collins cover song lol
  7:30pm

The trio, post-Wayne, is my favorite, but you already know that, Andrew. Looking forward to hearing Wayne’s parallel track on today’s show.

This is one of my favorites.

Lol Javi. The Phil Collins version was a big enough hit back in the 80s. It's from a movie called Buster, which Phil himself starred in. I saw it twice.

It is the most beautiful song.
  7:52pm

David in California:

From the New York Times obituary:
“Professionally he was a bit of a genius,” the singer Peter Noone said of his friend Mr. Fontana in a phone interview. (Mr. Noone had success of his own in the British Invasion as the frontman of Herman’s Hermits.) He added, “There are only two great singers in the northwest of England, and he was one of them.” The other, he said, is Allan Clarke of the Hollies.
  8:00pm

I love this version.
Avatar 8:01pm

I guess the Zombies were disappointed that they got a chord or two wrong!
Avatar 8:02pm

In 1967 Ric Rothwell (drummer) left the Mindbenders, Eric Stewart went into interior decorating and Bob Lang (bass) managed a gentlemen's hair dressing shop.
