I've lost two laptops to accidental coffee dousings. Those were costly cups of coffee! One had a novel I was writing for "art therapy." No backup. Interesting experience. It was like having a stroke -- you know you knew something but can't remember what it was

@Zipperhead: I had an MA term paper and a slew record reviews for a publication that I was about email for a certain publication, and... i knocked a pricey beer on my laptop. I was basically able to redo my term paper from memory and my footnotes, but I never officially wrote record reviews after that fiasco, as it took me over a month to get a new laptop, and by then, i missed the deadlines... (term paper was the first priority anyways).

Writing record reviews is hard work. Easy to write raves and pans, but the great body of stuff . . . it all became intertextual after awhile: "This sounds like Stark Naked and the Car Thieves" "That sounds like Noize Annoize," etc.

Scary day today. Took Zipperdawg to the park and he found the remnants of what I suspect was a blunt under a picnic table, He scarfed it up and within half an hour couldn't stand up. He's in the animal hospital tonight, poor fella. Border collie/coonhound mix

I was reading how Klaus Stockhausen was the first german dj to play chicago house in germany. along w/ his set, he fawned over can, kraftwerk, baushaus, and patrick cowley while at the Front club (hamburg) ("Germany: the past, present, and future of dance music", i-D 64, Nov 1988)
