So, the rumor is that you and Evan are in some Gottsching cahoots. Who knows what goes on in the GTDS smoky backrooms....?

NGH! We are a conspiracy
Avatar 🇰🇷 Swag For Life Member 7:05pm
WR:

This afternoon listened to DJ Georgie Girl on her Hi-Waisted Modernists Sheena stream program read some Lester Bangs essay on being a music critic in which he described one path to becoming an established critic is by championing some obscure German art rock not easily accessible to the general public. It all seems connected.

WR, haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm
Gary:

Hey wait, isn't today (or was it yesterday) Bangs' birthday?
Avatar 🇰🇷 Swag For Life Member 7:08pm

Why yes, Gary, that is right. It's more than a "conspiracy". Some greater force is pulling the strings!

Me too, Shineman. Perhaps the Leary involvement increased the USA distribution of this on import.

I accidentally pull my hedfons, and got asked, "is that techno?" Then they got the ngh treatment of, "what is krautrock" w/ a non music geek audience in mind...

I feel like I finally shamed Gary into getting a trntbl (I used to make subtle jabs at him back in the early days of the bodega).

Do we know if Manuel Göttsching wished The Cosmic Jokers music had never been released (for artistic reasons), or just wished that he had been appropriately involved (legally and financially) before its release?

Yeah - in that period just before *everything* was online (for me anyhow - with streams & podcasts) - Julian Cope & his site Head Heritage was extremely relevant for me. For clues to people like Ash Ra Tempel & even for philosophy of life (tbh).

It's tempting to imagine his influence punching far above & far away from his fame, if you know what I mean. One would have to get meticulous with the timelines of who & what was when. Aside from how fine it is of itself

Does the music "just stop" when this program ends at 10 PM EST sharp? No. No, it does not. It rolls on! I have it on very good authority that following this program, you'll have your inner ears tickled by the great Sam Segal and his always-already terrific If You Lose Your Horse! Tonight's episode, "Cheerfully Yours, The Horse" wfmu.org...

@zipperhead: as someone who had cataracts, it sounds like the initial growth of a cataract. If it's a natural accretion, it shouldn't be in the middle of your field of vision, and sort of just be sometimes noticeable.

Yeah - think it notable of course that Gibson had been making acoustic, maybe nearly Classical instruments for some time before amplification.
Avatar 9:53pm

...tho not 100% sure what I mean by 'Classical' there ...more that that's how a Gibson neck *feels* - more user friendly for articulating one's scales...
