An hour honoring guitar giant Jeff Beck, suddenly passed away this week. It would take a minimum of 24 hours to even begin to do him justice, but we'll do what we can this week here in The Funhouse.

Mr. Waller knows this story but I went to see JB bout 8-10 years ago at tiny El Rey here and Rod came out for encore on Jeff's bday. Even though he pretended to be surprised it was magic.

Last time I saw him perform was when he and Clapton did that mini tour -6 dates,I think. I drove up tp Montreal to catch the last show. It was memorable and the only time in almost 3 decades of seeing him live that he played some straight up blues. Great show.

Wow. And straight up blues, that version of Brush on Who Else is also staggering. Good point he didn't do much of that. I thought he was the best of the 3 with the blues (JP/EC)

I only got the chance to see Jeff Beck on stage once — the ARMS concert at Madison Square garden sometime in the early ‘80s. I think I appreciate it it more now than I did then because of where my teenage head was at the time.

That small group of shows was in 2010. Monteal was February 22. I got a speeing ticket on the wa back to New York. Worth it.
