Since Ed asked: there are oodles of guitar heroes these days but the days of stadium rock are probably over, so no more Van Halen nooding with a fog machine. John Mayer is perhaps the last "nob with a Strat" dingleberry. But you need look no further than Nita Strauss, Tim Henson, Tom Morello, Tosin Abasi, Chris Buck, Wata(!), and many many many more.
