I did meet Tony by chance, and stood shoulder to shoulder with him as he showed up unexpectedly to watch his daughter perform at the college she and I were both attending. I got there a little late and the room was packed, so I stood at the doorway to the side of the stage. I was watching her perform, and then out of nowhere Tony walks up and stands right next to me. I was wearing an unbuttoned flannel, hadn't shaved in a few days...and here's Tony wearing a tailored suit, looking as sharp as one could look, and even had a fresh flower in his lapel. He had a smile a mile wide watching Antonia sing. I think I just said hello and a few words I can't recall, but man that guy was 100% old-school class and style. Brush with greatness. One of the best jazz vocalists and interpreters of a song of all time.

The mouse poison kills them by drying them out, then continues to dessicate their bodies as they decompose, so they’re not good hosts for bacteria and they don’t rot or stink, they just kinda dry up into husks.

Thirsty ? Interesting. Thing about poison - cruel in making them bleed internally - awful. But also scared who else might eat it - or eat the mice with it in them... Oh, desiccated. Hm. I wanna believe it's simple as peppermint oil... One place out West ...used a glue trap. This is exceptionally awful - they're just stuck there. Horrific. Then one place they stored horse hay garage next door & guess what... Got an electric trap from like K-Mart: has a one-way valve, they get in but not out. Couple AA batteries & a plate zaps 'em. Red light ...green light, you got one. Just dump it out... Rule is: You got One - you got Three. Use until unnecessary...

The main thing I saw this week was a 20-mnute video of Wes Anderson walking through a Paris video rental shop, pulling things off the shelf and recommending them. I think I'd seen like, three of the movies. But the one he recommended most highly was Witness. (1985, dir. Peter Weir.)

Saw "Beyond the Valley..." in a rep. theater w/a lot of people, which is the way to see it. Hysterical (whether intentional or not) & I remember thinking Mike Myers obviously was inspired by it, & used some dialogue from it in one or more of the Austin Powers movies. Years before, Marcia McBroom came up to the office I was working in, & someone introduced her to me, but since I hadn't seen the movie I didn't ask her about it; she seemed to be a little embarrassed by it.
