A few DJ’s have been broadcasting some lesser played Carpenters songs … must admit I was way too judgmental of their sound and songs as post punk kid.
- Kinda love them now. Hahaha.

They were great. They had a nice little revival in the 90's when all the alt kids admitted they were great.

I’m familiar with Basquiat - saw some of his stuff at the Broad - but I appreciate this more in-depth profile. Turns out I don’t know nearly as much about him as I thought I did.

Ha ha, digging these old school rap jams. Was a big fan of the stuff as a wee tot.

Always Freakin’ groove to Grace Jones tunes. Fave was always Living My Life album (despite the great previous 2 albums). Slave to the Rhythm album is a pretentious sonic joyride - only ever had the vinyl. But do Not sleep on the fabulous 2008 Hurricane album & especially with its Dub companion version CD.

Random Wiki fyi :
King Pleasure (born Clarence Beeks; March 24, 1922 – March 21, 1982)[1] was an American jazz vocalist and an early master of vocalese, where a singer sings words to a well-known instrumental solo.
- fantastic artist, perhaps the predecessor of the more well know Lambert, Hendricks & Ross , Manhattan Transfer , etc mode.

living abt 1hour outside of NYC for 29 years, Experienced ALL that “taxi driver” type wild & wooly seediness (1972-late 80s)thru many trips to “Broadway beyond & the village”, etc. wonderful memories. Kinda was sad to see how Disney-fied it became. Yet, indeed must admit, so much more visitor friendly and safer vibes! The other Scorcese paranoia film that tweaked a related nyc vibe was “After Hours”.
