Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from September 8, 2023 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

I had a similar experience in high school. It was summer drama class and a gal a year my junior whom I knew from community theater reported that she'd just seen the Stones at the Forum. She described how Jagger rode a giant phallus over the audience. To this day I wish I'd gone to that show with her.

But as for "IT" girls--I thought you meant information technology, and I was rapt--I hung out with the young lady who would be her class Homecoming Queen. She was a blast to be around, fun, sweet. No study required. In fact, she was in one of my bands for a while after I graduated from high school. She had a couple years to go.

Saw a neat trick by longtime Brit garden show guy Monty Don, but needs medium of a texture that can do this. Put the plant still in its pot into the new bigger empty pot. Fill in around it nice and level with the new planting soil. Pull the littler pot back out and you're left with a hole in the soil that fits the new guy perfectly once you remove it from its pot. I think this makes for less disturbance or trauma to roots.
