I got my copy of White Light/ White Heat at Wallachs Music City for $1.98 in 1971. I was fifteen years old. A couple months later I saw The Grateful Dead. They did a lot of covers, but they DID NOT do Sister Ray.

I had the privilege of seeing him & Joe Delia have a jam session after a double feature of Bad Lieutenant and The Addiction at The Roxy. It was a weird scene, though, because Abel was drunk and invited a girl who was singing in the lounge to join him onstage. She read lyrics from her phone while she sang. It was beyond cringe. Abel was super cool, though...signed my Ms. 45 and Driller Killer blu-rays after the double feature & jam session. The craziest shit was that he took a photo of me & my old man with his cell phone because I was wearing a Ms. 45 shirt and my hubby was wearing a Driller Killer shirt.

A loose, improvisatory project that delivers an almost liminal version of that special something that she so deftly brings to YLT, Little Black Egg will be rounded out with Ira Kaplan for a special live, in-the-studio performance on Burn It Down! Friday, May 3.

Part of the Queen City's takeover of the punk underground, Cincinnati's Choncy excel at the sort of tough, tight punk that is informed as much by arty DiY post-punk as it is by the standard-bearers of hardcore. Throw in some righteous anger and a little psych damage, and you have a real winner. Nate K. is proud to welcome Choncy to the show for a live performance on Friday, May 10.
