flooding was really bad here (Annapolis) yesterday. my cousin's boat floated off his lift and went merrily merrily merrily down the stream. There are two floating docks lying on top of one of my neighbor's bulkhead. Our pier was 2 feet underwater, and it's near low-tide now and I only have a foot before it's covered again. talked to a 30 yr resident and he said the flooding hasn't been this bad since Isabel, never like this in the winter, where the average tides are about a foot and an half less.

not really. It was the most disappointing thing about moving here -- even the seafood isn't that great tbh. We're having my wife's birthday party here Sunday with some carryout ethnic foods, and we have to go to Burtonsville for the closest Ethiopian, Columbia for the closest Afghani. There's a Thai place on West St that's pretty decent, but it's in a donut shop so you pretty much have to get carryout to remove the sugary smell from the dining experience. Best Mexican is in a gas station (the Mexxon, as it's known locally)

And speaking of places Hubig used to live, K8 and I have decided to go to NOLA for a few days in late Feb. clarke found us a reasonable place to stay in Mid-City for the first few nights, and the last night we're at a hotel around the corner from Mariano in the Marigny. she was mentioned in 500 songs podcast because she worked with john lennon on some of his plays, so i let her know about it, she was thrilled, i made a prop for a revival of her play 'funnyhouse of a negro' a long time ago, which she really liked and we've had some correspondence after that, she shared an anecdote about bumping into lennon in nyc in the 70's, she's 92 and i don't think i'll hear from her again.

Doing pretty well. Been considering moving up retirement a year. I'm noticing a cognitive decline that's a little worrisome, and I don't want to waste what little brain cells I have left. So far today I've turned on the clothes dryer without putting anything in it, sent an email to a client referencing a screen cap that I didn't bother to take and include, and used enough wrong words mixed with typos in a text that I couldn't even remember what I wanted to say after autocorrect got though with it. Aaah, then different selection on your side of the island, but do keep an eye out for Korean-run steam table joints. The Essen near my old gig made Korean Army Stew partially out of some of the steam table leftovers; one particularly good one had hunks of lamb in it...

Handy!!! :)

Yes, it’s me (that SF/F fan with the sphere pic normally) but I am posting from my phone. Honestly, life dealt me some severe blows over the last few years and I am still recovering. But slowly and surely, right?

Nice to see you all!

Really good to see you, Sphere. Sorry to hear it's been hard. 2023 was a bit of a nightmare here, too. Glad to see you back, though, and hope it happens again soon!
