Was this selected with the Houthis in mind? Can't say I believe 'em when they claim to care about Palestinians, but I admit I'm no expert; I just have a knee-jerk dislike for tankies. Any reading material y'all would recommend on this? Haven't read up on it.

Key rule of life: Imperialism is bad. But other people can be bad too. When just ANYONE claims to be anti-imperialist... that doesn't mean you should believe them.

Your rant was fine. A person does have to be conscious of who they're labeling as 'bad'. Hamas and others are reacting to an action, in this case, by the IDF and the extremist government faction. It's also too bad that Israel is Allie of the Day, with the U.S.

The U.S. has been in some sort of military activity virtually every day since its inception.

Support of Israel has always been shady, considering the level of antisemitism that's always existed here.

On a tangent, I find it kinda interesting that I can go to a local Lebanese festival, or a Greek one, both Catholic, and feel like I'm with family, whereas I avoid Ukrainian or Lithuanian festivals because I feel too much like an outsider. In those countries, the main population and governments didn't really care much for any ethnic minorities.

ah, i see said the blind man

"Ulster unionist resistance to Irish Home Rule reached a peak during the crisis initiated by the third
Home Rule Bill of 1912. Some form of partition looked increasingly likely as the strength of unionist
resistance became clear and no amount of nationalist insistence could induce the British government
to override unionist objections. The result was the Government of Ireland act of 1920 which provided
for the partition of Ireland and the establishment of parliaments in Belfast and Dublin."

Going back hundreds of years - the Crown deliberately installed (there's that word again...) Protestant Loyalists from Scotland into Northern Ireland to Occupy (& that one) it.
