"It’s hardly a quick process, either, with the ball needing to get rolling “the day before your guests arrive” when it’s advised to store “all the ingredients – glasses, gin, and shaker – in the refrigerator”.

The next step requires a thermometer “to make sure the ice is about 20 degrees below zero (centigrade),” he explains. “Don’t take anything out until your friends arrive; then pour a few drops of Noilly Prat and half a demitasse spoon of Angostura bitters over the ice. Stir it, then pour it out, keeping only the ice, which retains a faint taste of both. Then pour straight gin over the ice, stir it again, and serve.”"

I enjoy a martini about once a week. Freeze martini glass. Use a bar spoon to crack some of the cubes but not all. 4 oz. London Dry gin. I like Beefeater. 1/4 oz Noilly Pratt. Rest. Breathe. Use a french peeler to obtain a fresh sliver of clean, cold lemon skin. Set aside. Use the bar spoon to spin the wash. Do not slosh. That comes later. Wen absolute cold is reached, stain into your frozen martini glass. Some ice slivers are highly desirable. Relax more. Twist lemon peel over top of liquid in glass. Observe closely. If no oil is spritzed, you will be sad. Drop down the side of the glass. Stab two delicious stuffed olives with cocktail fork. Enjoy!

I've been stocking Bell Ringer gin. I think it's pretty comparable to Beefeater and comes in a fairly affordable 1.75L size, which I like to get for the base ingredients in drinks.

another pro tip, if you're interested, is that Death and Co and many other reputable bars (supposedly) create their own Feegan's Bitters by combining 50% Regan's Bitters with 50% Fee Brother's orange bitters. both are great on their own - Regan's a deeper more cardamon spiced bitters, Fee Bros a brighter more orange soda type thing. Feegan's splits the difference.

Oof, that's rough. These kids were loud and pretty stupid but not violent at all. Just did NOT know how rent works. Or what stop that one kid wanted.

I just use Rittenhouse. During the High Pandemic days, it was $28 for .75L. It's been creeping up: $29 in '21, then $30, now $31. BUT suddenly they 1L bottles for $35! What a country!
