I'm playing with the DALL-E 3 image generation AI. I asked it for a picture of a tabby cat, playing a 12-string guitar and holding a rose by the stem in its mouth, in the corner of a shabby cafe in Madrid. It does a great job with the cat, the guitar, and the cafe, but can't seem to keep the rose from passing through the cat's neck. You just can't tell what's going to be hard for someone (or something).

July 4, 1966, issue of Broadcasting magazine includes a full-page article by Earl C. Albright, manager of Schlitz brand advertising and merch. Albright identifies the Leo Burnett Co. as the ad agency that came up with the "When you're out of Schlitz..." campaign. By mid-'66 they had come up with 16 arrangements of the tune. The target audience? The "growing market of affluent beer drinkers.... He's a young man between 25 and 35. He listens to radio some two hours a day and hears maybe 60 spots." Schlitz had spent a whopping $1M in '65 on ads; by July, they spent more than double that in '66.

Was just watching the Mikey and Nicky movie last night and there’s this Schmidt’s beer throughout that I’ve never heard of.

They don't brew beer with gusto anymore.

@meself Schmidt’s was popular in eastern PA. I believe it’s no longer brewed.

Billboard Album Radio Action, Sept. 16, 1978, Becker, Fagan, Diaz "You Gotta Walk It..." appeared as a Western Region add-on.

Steely Dan and their archival material jerk-off is putting it mildly. I'm surprised that they allowed Cameron Crowe to use footage of their Midnight Special appearance on "Almost Famous."

Review of the reissue of the OST in Vox, Feb. 1, 1993:
"This 1970 soundtrack to the low-budget movie of the same name (an early vehicle for Richard Pryor) is not an entirely auspicious beginning. Only two of the eight cuts--'Dog Eat Dog' and 'If It Rains'--hint at something to come, the rest is messing-out by numbers on a compromised slew of meandering, lateral instrumentals which hardly seem to tax their boffin-like arranging powers."

I think the Billboard add-on means the album was getting attention that week in the Western Region radio market.

The footage was on TV in a hotel room. Crowe said that they allowed it, but asked why he wanted it because the performance was awful.
