Oh that is true. In the UK TheBeatles were mostly against putting Singles on the LPs for max value. Since I was a little kid collecting the U.S. LPs in the early 70s - I got 'BadBoy' that way for example...

I've resented that the U.S. Capitol versions of the pre-67Sgt.Pepper LPs were rearranged & repackaged from the intended UK ones (until the Digital era with CDs) - as they presented things a little out of chronological order & not Sequenced as intended as Albums - the garish pandering Cover Art Designs - &tc. Otoh - it is not as tho Dexter @ Capitol never gave a thot to Sequencing. 'Beatles Second Album' leaned towards Rawkers & R&B trax ...& that's certainly how I spun it as a kid. But hell - who listens to whole Albums anymore anyhow. It's all History - & it's all great in any order. I just wanted to learn how it really went down in what order with what Cover Art as they intended in the UK in the day...

Think I know what you mean. The US Capitol releases have a more immediate, almost grittier sound…? Like She’s A Woman sounds like a garage punk monster. The UK version is a bit anemic in comparison. Now you’ve got me really searching after a copy of VI lol

Yes. First off - U.S. LPs were generally 12 trax ...& UK Albums 14. Hmm...
& the U.S. Capitol 'Rubber Soul' def sequenced to be more on the FolkRawk tip. Which - is not terrible. But - also not the 'real' UK 'RubberSoul' - starting with the Electric Soul of 'Drive My Car' for instance. Much more placed in the evolving sonics of 1965 generally... Also - the U.S. 'RubberSoul' cribs trax from the UK 'Help!' - which it turned out was a much more stylin' & important Album then we had any idea of over here ...thing there being the Movie 'Soundtracks' had some other contractual situations going on...

Yes! I have TTR as mono on the Help! soundtrack and it’s absolutely beautiful. The chiming twelve string sound is in its full glory on that one. The rekkid that’s killing me right now in regards to Stereo vs Mono is Their Satanic Majesty’s Request. The mono version is different sounding enough to almost count as a separate lp. Try In Another Land in mono, and see what ya think. It’s surprising(at least to me!).

Somewhere, I saw Phil saying: "I want to hear Beatles albums how they were meant to be heard. Capitol messes with the Beatles. As if they could improve upon perfection with their cut-and-paste approach to album sequencing. Capitol was repacking their releases as early as summer 1965. There’s a tape of an August ‘65 press conference where the Beatles are quite vocal about their dislike of this."
