Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from February 16, 2024 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

- or in '66 still - TheWho were going 'A Quick One' / 'HappyJack' - & all those Singles ('Substitute'). & sure that's PowerPop alright.
In fact some have posited that the PowerPop Ideal is some perfect alchemy between TheBeatles & TheWho. (Yer Pops & yer Powers...)

The ngram viewer takes on of Google's corpora, a very large one, and shows the relative proportion of strings of characters vis-a-vis the total number. The corpus is skewed toward scholarly works, because the scans were made from large university research library collections, such as Berkeley's. But even these libraries hold a lot of popular content. However, I don't think that, say, Creem, would have been scanned, as it is by Internet Archive.
