Baby. A standing O for last week’s show. Better than anything I’ve have watched, read, or listened to in a very long time. Gripping and fascinating. The music was so very on point. Congrats to you and Joel. If you listen to this show, and don’t contribute to the WFMU fundraiser, you be trippin’. None of this is free, and we should not take it for granted.

One of my bucket list items was crossed off when I got to see Mike Nesmith perform Different Drum live at the Colonial in Phoenixville PA. Even though Linda basically took ownership of the song with that record, check out Mike's own solo recording with an incredible pedal steel solo by Red Rhodes, one of the best steel solos of that era

True story - back in the '80s I was a (foot) messenger for a big NYC law firm. I was on the subway a lot. One day, I see Joe Jackson (with maybe his parents), on a nearly empty R train - mid-day.

I approached him, "Mr. Jackson?"

"What do you want?!" -he snarled. I asked for his autograph -something I rarely did, but I was a fan.."Get lost!" he said.
When the train got to Canal Street, he got off and the only other person in the car yelled after him, "You're jive, Joe!"

And FWIW, in 1983 I ran into Paul McCartney and Linda on the streets of Manhattan. Tapped him on the shoulder and said, "Nice to meet you."

He shook my hand and said, "Nice to meet you."

i then ran like a school-girl to a pay-phone to call my dad, who couldn't care less.
