Well ...having a friend who's a very good Irish Piper ...it's occurred to me that there are accents & things like syncopations which are not tabulated by the Time Signature as such. Which confuses me about Counting Beats. *Maybe*. I simply haven't studied it.

a lot of reggae (especially Marley/gladiators type reggae) has 8 beats/measure, if you break it down to the stupid european version of "music theory", it's 8ths notes. (..o.O.o.)

'thing about kansas (styx is not something i'll intentionally listen to) is some songs definitely *are* prog... complicated arrangements, time changes within songs, classical influence... and some songs are not, at all ( like "dust in the wind")
Marley certainly made non-reggae music.
beatles were not a rock & roll band; Steve Reich is not "minimalist".
