Genuine, original college radio would be a good idea. WFMU itself is one of the old ones that attained Enlightenment. But for the last couple decades, the "college radio plays" seems more like another commercial metric for the labels. Disappointing lost potential.

I went to a college with a fairly renowned radio station, but it was run like a "real" station with playlists and the like. I opted for the campus-only station (which went online halfway through my tenure)-- it broadcast out of a closet and almost no one listened to it, but we got to play whatever we wanted and I loved it.

Right!! Good analogy. Wedding cake usually looks pretty. But almost always, when you you take a bite, it doesn’t taste good. You want to spit it out. It is no wonder the bride and groom often smear the cake it on one another. (odd ritual that—all of it, really) It is like a foreshadowing of what is to come following the ceremony.
