Listener comments!

mb:

Aw man! I miss the 90's. Thanks Diane....
  3:10pm
Sean Daily:

Second comment! Woo hoo!
  3:11pm
Cecile:

Good afternoon, Diane!
  3:13pm
detroitdave:

Hey Diane........been waitin for this show all week!!
  3:16pm
GP:

Hi Diane, I just started reading the book "American Hardcore"..I regret missing out on all of those bands, but can at least experience some it on your show. KTRU from Rice University in Texas also has a "Mutant Hardcore Power Hour" show that is pretty amazing.
  3:29pm
Cecile:

GP man, you sound like me when i was reading books about the Haight in the 60s thirty years ago :)
  3:38pm
moxie:

my girls share a birthday with Beefheart and Charo as well. i remember this because the last time your show was on jan 15 was the day they were born.
  3:39pm
GP:

You know it Cecile....makes me want to become an obsessed record collector. My sister got to experience some of the scene in Austin and in D.C...She got to see the Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Black Flag, etc. all live!
A friend of mine was from Haight...always had the coolest girl-friends who would come out to visit...it still is a pretty crazy scene out there, but not like the 60's.
  3:39pm
Doug from DC:

This is also the 90th anniversary of the Boston Molasses Disaster. You should play some stoner doom metal in honor of this.
  3:39pm
detroitdave:

If you could keep your tongue out for several hours Diane........WE GOTTA MEET
  3:40pm
Doug in DC:

GP - I saw a lot of those shows too.
  3:45pm
GP:

Doug, the stories you must have..I heard a lot of it 2nd hand from sister and now brother-in-law...in fact he still has a "Straight Edge" belly tattoo..maybe he regrets it now..but they sure know how to have a crazy time.
  3:45pm
Cecile:

All I remember of the one black flag show I saw in '86 was that I drank too much, left after six songs, and fell into an ice cream freezer stopping at the store on the way home. Good times.
  3:46pm
GP:

whoah..they way I wrote that...no, my sister is NOT also my brother-in-law...that would be too weird. I meant AND my brother-in-law.!
  3:48pm
Sean Daily:

GP: The sister turning into a brother I could understand. The sister turning in a brother-IN-LAW, would've tripped me up.
  3:49pm
Doug from DC:

I used to go see shows at DC Space when I was still in high school. They were the first place to serve me drinks, when I was still 17. One night a group of skinny kids in white lab coats came on and played a bunch of really fast, loud songs that were 30 seconds long. That was the first time the Teen Idles played there.
  3:51pm
GP:

Cool Doug..yeah I was just reading about them.
  3:53pm
Doug from DC:

I also saw the Bad Brains there, more than once. One time HR hung upside-down from a rope hanging above the stage and sang into the mic he held in his other hand. That's one of the best shows I saw back then. That and the Contortions. This girl got up on the stage to take James Chance's photo. He turned around and saw her and pushed her off the stage. She flew right past me.
  3:56pm
Cecile:

YEAH. YEAH.
This is one band I wish I would have seen bay in the day.
  3:57pm
Cecile:

really red. I think their last record was astonishing and never got the credit it deserved.
  3:58pm
BSI:

Doug, cut it out, I'm gettin' all misty-eyed over here. Space was the place... (never saw bad brains there, but did catch 'em at WUST...not as intimate, but a great time)
  3:59pm
GP:

Unfortunately this Really Red song is talking about the truth. Joe Campos Torres was handcuffed and thrown into Buffalo Bayou in Houston..it is a pretty famous case of police brutality in Texas.
  4:01pm
Cecile:

Yep, they were always topical.

and witchcraft! yay!
  4:04pm
Doug from DC:

BSI, what did you think of Electric Possible's new digs at DCAC?
  4:04pm
detroitdave:

yeah cats I agree with the Really Red and Witchcraft. the gutteral vocalist shit wears thin after a few songs
  4:14pm
Cecile:

I think someone could do a great show just playing versions of interstellar overdrive...
  4:15pm
fishmonkeystew:

My band covers this tune (Interstellar Overdrive) all the time. It's a blast to play.
  4:17pm
Cecile:

you just set your effects pedals for the heart of the sun, and go, I'll bet.
  4:20pm
BSI:

Doug -
I prefer DCAC to the basement at GWU. It kinda needs BIGGER, LOUDER, HEAVY DRONE in there, though. That room needs to be FILLED with NOISE. Callosum/BSI?

Very nice Interstellar Overdrive, by the way.
  4:21pm
fishmonkeystew:

Exactly. A blast.
  4:22pm
detroitdave:

more stoner stuff Diane!
  4:23pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Did anyone witness the plane that went down in the Hudson River this afternoon? Sounds like it made a soft enough landing that it was floating and the passengers were able to make it out OK.
  4:24pm
Doug from DC:

My thinking exactly. I like that there is better lighting, more comfortable seats, etc. BTW, I'm jamming with some friends at Orpheus Records on Jan. 30, maybe as Corpus Callosum. It will be LOUD anyway!

Also, the Idles show is number two on this list:
http://www.threatbase.com/shows/teenidles.html
I remember a lot of these venues.
  4:24pm
Sean Daily:

Well, if you like The Prisoner, Diane, then a little Iron Maiden is in order.
  4:25pm

  4:26pm
detroitdave:

got any biohazard?
  4:33pm
Cecile:

got some Foghat.? Might as well listen to the real thing...
  4:44pm
Michael:

Ohhhhhhhhhh, thanks for The Damned. Greetings from Cologne,Germany. Great Stuff.
  4:47pm
mark in brooklyn:

she stole my heart with her billion dollar babies tattoo
  4:50pm
Dave in Chicago:

Yeah, it's been a pretty smooth show. Not "easy listening" but just a good flow. By the way 25 below ZERO in the city today. So there's your real Biohazard detroitD
  5:08pm
Sean Daily:

Diane, you just sound so CUTE when you go all death metal like that!
  5:09pm
black ambient:

my friend did PCP with extreme noise terror in LA.
  5:10pm
Xanadu:

It was Excruciating Terror, my bad.
  5:17pm
pcp is cool:

meth is downright putrid
  5:19pm
not scared of burning witch:

NOT scary, back to the drawing board please.
  5:22pm
oz:

great show! didnt a plane just crash in your hood?
  5:23pm
Duh:

Cause she is BURNING, but man oh man..if she were off the fire..look out....hums " I put a spell on you"
  5:27pm
Gene Shalit:

NOt to stir up the cauldron but Burning Witch failed to put a spell on me. I was also about 100 incantations too long.
  5:32pm
unscared:

these witches are much scarier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gujQJFCB558
  5:37pm
GP:

Unscared,
Here is one that will make you want to keep the lights on:
http://tiny.cc/8Nctt

Shudder!
  5:58pm

  11:11pm
