Listener comments!

  12:08pm
R I S K Y:

GO IN DIANE!!! TAKE EM TO THE RANCH!
  12:11pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Awesome tune, reminds me an obscure "Viking Rock" band called Forlorn.
  12:27pm
Cecile:

Aw. man. I'm sorry about Abelli. I just missed seeing them a few years back...
  12:34pm
student of life:

X-ray specs Cool! I had such a crush on poly styrene:-)
  12:35pm
student of life:

Ever since she sang "oh bondage" I am so hot for her:-)
  12:38pm
gretchen:

Hey Diane! Excellent sounds. Play some more X-Ray Spex. Please?
  12:39pm
Cecile:

hey. diane, if you could slide on some Kyuss, that would be great too.
  12:52pm
Cecile:

ayiyaayiyaayiayiyahaha!
  12:52pm
Carmichael:

What's this I hear?? Awesome Focus!!!
  12:52pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Thijs and Jan! Opera at its rocking finest, lol
  12:54pm
north guinea hills:

This Focus is full of win!
  12:57pm
gretchen:

Diane. This is terrific. Thanks. And to think I almost forgot about this tune.
  12:57pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Looking at your blog post, I'm going to stay late at work today, Diane, just so I can hear the rest of your show!
  12:58pm
Cecile:

this focus is a lot more funny, playful and less serious than I remembered as a teen. Good jam, bro.
  1:02pm
Carmichael:

"And the heater don't work and it's uhhh so cold ...."
  1:03pm
Cecile:

I'm glad Ian got some money from Great White on this. But his version is so much better. You hear the jokes.
  1:08pm
Marmalade Kitty:

I want to see 5,000 kamikaze farmers wage a syncronized attack on republicans everywhere!
  1:09pm
tom sawyer:

Voivod?
  1:13pm
Carmichael:

Now's good a time as any for Thin Lizzy.
  1:14pm
gretchen:

I'll second that motion.
  1:16pm
Cecile:

the Iriah black metal band O'peth
  1:16pm
Cecile:

Irish.

Seriously, though, how are they now with the new lead guitarist?
  1:19pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Opeth is Swedish! Loved their albums that Steven Wilson out of Porcupine Tree worked on (including this one, Blackwater Park) but a little meh on the rest.
  1:19pm
Carmichael:

They're actually Swedish, according to the AllMusic site. I've never heard of 'em, honestly.
  1:20pm
Cecile:

I KNOW they are SWEDISH. That's a joke.

Primordial, however, are Irish.
  1:20pm
Dale from North Dakota:

It's something of a cross between Black Metal and Prog, though enough of the gutteral vocals to keep them off my frequent play list.
  1:21pm
Marmalade Kitty:

they can't be Swedish 'cos they didn't appear in Trents Swedish all star playlist last week!
  1:21pm
Cecile:

And I think Your Funeral, My Hearse is pretty great.

I've seen 'em three times, each time great.
  1:24pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Here's the "Channelling Porcupine Tree" section, lol. Love it.
  1:26pm
Cecile:

Porcupine Tree also also channelled Opeth a lot on In Absentia, IIRC. Very heavy album of theirs.
  1:27pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Definitely. I lost a bit of interest after "Lightbulb Sun", though came around for "The Incident", which is excellent. Even flew to NYC last September for their show. Terminal 5 sucks, by the way, lol.
  1:29pm
tom sawyer:

My friend Amy sees PT tonight in AZ
  1:30pm
Cecile:

Nice, Tom. They've missed Mpls the last couple of tours. Bummer.

I liked the Incident, but liked the Steven Wilson solo album much better. That was a good record.
  1:31pm
Cecile:

And I thought Deadwing was real solid throughout.
  1:31pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Didn't even know that he had a solo album, I'm in the wilderness here, lol. I gave some thought to going back to NYC for their "special" concert in September, but haven't sorted it yet. Hope your friend enjoys the show, Tom!
  1:32pm
gretchen:

jesus diane... talk about taking a stroll down memory lane....
  1:33pm
Detroit Mac:

How about some Rory Gallagher?
  1:33pm
Cecile:

It's called Insurgentes, Dale.

There is a building in St. Paul that used to be "Saxon Motors". And someone stole "motors" so it only says "Saxon". I always smile when I see it.
  1:34pm
Chris from DC:

I saw Saxon open an arena show for Jethro Tull more years ago than I care to remember.
  1:38pm
SiHV:

Listening in lower Manhattan.
  1:41pm
SmallyBiggs:

The wfmu app for Iphone is da BOMB.
  1:42pm
SmallyBiggs:

So is this show ;)
  1:43pm
Dale from North Dakota:

Looking at the list of bands you skipped, Diane, I'd have tried to see Pendragon, Marillion, Asia, Steve Hackett and Transatlantic. But mostly Transatlantic, that's an amazing group.
  1:44pm
SmallyBiggs:

How about someKing Diamond?? :o
  1:51pm
Peteski:

guest, please speak into the microphone
  1:53pm
Peteski:

guest, why are you shouting?
  1:53pm

Alice Cooper (born Vincent Damon Furnier; February 4, 1948) Age 62
  2:09pm
Cecile:

Miss Pee, you have to come on the air when you are in NYC!
  2:09pm
stamehad:

what with metal from the holy land?
  2:11pm
tom sawyer:

Voivod just played the Wacken Festival in Germany.
  2:12pm
Cecile:

LOL, tom.

Well, off to the farmer's market. Hope to catch the end of the show, but if not, it was great.
  2:20pm
Dale from North Dakota:

I always see Beavis and Butthead bobbing their heads when I hear Rammstein, lol
  2:29pm
Jim Devoid:

Circles and Rings! Dragons and Kings!
  2:33pm
lil bob:

Funny, just took out " Black Sabbath, the Dio years"
from the east alton Illinois public library...
  2:38pm
lil bob:

Okay, it's not that funny...
  2:42pm
Dale from North Dakota:

If only ELP had stuck to this sort of thing and given the whole "Love Beach" thing a miss... Lester Bangs would still have hated 'em.
  2:53pm
Cecile:

Came back to God giving rock 'n' roll to me.
  2:56pm
Marmalade Kitty:

remember Waynes World..?
