Listener comments!

  12:12pm
Bad Ronald:

Sweet cover of "White Room"!
  12:12pm
MARC:

afternoon diane.
  12:14pm
tim from Champaign:

Hi Diane, could you play the Strangler's cover of "Walk On By"?
  12:21pm
philthy:

Love this.
  12:24pm
postmanpaul:

Those Hammersmith Odeon concerts seem so long ago now... They were the daze!
  12:30pm
postmanpaul:

Hugh, make sure you stay awake for the Komedia gig down here in Brighton!
  12:31pm
mstroso:

This is really great stuff Diane, thanks for bringing it to us.
  12:37pm
postmanpaul:

...and that will be Thirty Years!!! since the last one.
  12:38pm
dc pat:

I never really paid attention to the Stranglers too much for some reason so this is good education too.
  12:39pm
Cecile:

Now i want ice cream.
  12:40pm
postmanpaul:

The Man They Love To Hate for dc pat, please Diane.
  12:40pm
mstroso:

Same here; I just wasn't aware of them. I've got some catching up to do.
  12:45pm
dc pat:

I knew about 'em but there wasn't enough guitar for me...in my more stupid days.
  12:48pm
Cecile:

A lot of US critics panned the records after Rattus Norwegius. I think I had to read the Big Takeover and other fanzines to get a more balanced review of their later stuff, a lot of which I've enjoyed.
  1:04pm
dc pat:

See now, this tune is just fine....despite lack of prominent guitars....
  1:11pm
postmanpaul:

Ha! Axe head!
  1:13pm
Vincent Priceless:

Hi Diane - how about the live version of "Tank" sung by Peter Hammill when Hugh had been arrested and couldn't do the gig?
  1:18pm
Rob F:

Great selection of Stranglers/Hugh tracks. Can't wait for the interview. Great show Diane!
  1:21pm
slugluv1313:

  1:23pm
Cecile:

You know, Diane, you could alternate Waltzinblack with Zorro and I wouldn't complain.
  1:28pm
Cecile:

I'm singing the harmonies along to this song. So good.
  1:29pm
djspiderman:

fuckin Ace
  1:43pm
marq:

just went to the neigborhood market and bought some Slicks ice cream. Made in NH. Listening to wfmu while getting rid of my haze from the record fair and back home. I don't eat much ice cream but others eat the stuff up.Just saw it there and bought it for some reason. maybe because it has a very simple label with the name and not much else.
  1:48pm
SmokinJ:

Super nice set Diane. Keep Rockin' FMUers!
  1:53pm
dc pat:

I find the older I get, the more ice cream I eat. I use to eat no sweet things at ALL.
  2:00pm
Bad Ronald:

Elvis Ramone on Drums!!!!
  2:01pm
Lori:

Great selection of tunes, looking forward to tonight's show. Just wish i heard more of the interview, got here late. Will the archive be up 5 hours later? I think I read that somwhere. See you later at the Mercury Lounge. Gonna be GREAT. Lori

  2:06pm
Vincent Priceless:

Woo-hoo! "Non Stop" maybe?? "Everyone Loves You When You're Dead"?? Great Show!!
  2:07pm
dc pat:

  2:12pm
Chris from Dc:

  2:12pm
Cecile:

You have to have Peaches cued up somewhere...
  2:15pm
Bad Ronald:

Another track off of Aural Sculpture would be cool. Perhaps "Uptown"...
  2:16pm
Ronny Day:

Tried to listen but couldn't get the player to start. looking forward to checking out the archive. Playlist looks great. Great show Saturday at the Brighton!
  2:16pm
marq:

dc pat: the sweet thing I wonder about, too. the older you get. I wonder if it has anything to do with the amount of alcohol consumed when younger. I drank much alcohol during my twenties to early thirties and never craved a sweet, rarely. But noticed that now that I am older, late thirties, I don't drink so much and I can eat the shit out of some pies and cakes.
  2:18pm
SmokinJ:

Then drink more! 8-)
  2:18pm
dc pat:

funny, I was thinking the same thing. But I preferred salty junk food even as a kid.
  2:23pm
SmokinJ:

That was then, this is now!
  2:24pm
dc pat:

...and I didn't drink when I was a kid...
  2:25pm
SmokinJ:

Whowda' thunk?
  2:27pm
Bryan Swirsky:

Nice!!!
  2:28pm
marq:

dc pat: didn't drink as a kid? then it must be diyaaabeeeetaaasss!
  2:29pm
dc pat:

fuck.
  2:33pm
Jim:

Great interview, great performance and a very nice track selection - awesome!
  2:37pm
dc pat:

yeah, where else you going to get 3 solid hours of Hugh Cornwell?
  2:37pm
marq:

hopefully you don't have diabetes DC Pat but maybe you should check it out if you want. Dizzy sometimes and sugary like mood swings up and down could be a sign of a insulin imbalance. Me in my late thirties I don't see these sorts of things but I do crave sweets more when I don't drink.
  2:37pm
Tim D:

Hanging Around - made my day !
  2:39pm
dc pat:

nah, none of that. Just out of breath all the time from riding my bike too much.
  2:41pm
marq:

I remember when Glenn Jones played this hanging around song after David Carradine hung himself.
  2:44pm
djspiderman:

Hugh and the stranglers represented a great creative positive intelectual side to the uk "punk " movement , well atleast to me and my mates , ,,, thanks for this show , fuckin top.
  2:45pm
marq:

Ok DC Pat. Dr. Marq's recommendation is to get yourself into a time machine, go back in time of course, to the age you were at 12 years old, whatever time that would be, drink a bunch of beer, when you throw up try to keep some of it down. It's important to take some of the beer with you in your stomach. then get back in that time machine to the future..then...
  2:54pm
dc pat:

If I had a time machine, I wouldn't need to drink beer!
  2:56pm
marq:

why not? you drink one beer and go on a time machine it's like six, seven,
  2:58pm
Bad Ronald:

Bang up job Diane, thanks!
  2:59pm
dc pat:

[that was suppose to have been said like Groucho]
  3:00pm
marq:

ah. got it.
  3:01pm
Vincent Priceless:

Superb show, Diane - thanks for bringing Hugh to us!
  3:01pm
Cecile:

great, great show Diane!
  7:29pm
doninblack:
