Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

That's it for another episode of The Dusty Show -- The first episode of the Summer Season! I had some tape recorder difficulties that caused me to cut some of the interviews short, and for this, I am sorry. I'll have to get some new micro-cassettes and maybe a new micro-recorder if I can find the model I like.

Really enjoyed collecting the vinyl for this show. I found a great secret vinyl source upstate. Regularly replenished with new old records, the obscure, bland stuff I love! Hamilton Camp! Peter Cofield! Late-period Butterfly. Loving my Sun and Steel LP. Leave it to MCA to green light that one.

Also, very happy to be on before Night People and look forward to future collaboration when we get used to each other. Could be cool! I'll miss Betsy and hope she returns to FMU soon, which I bet she will when she misses all that sweet glory.

Email me if you have the notion. It's been pretty dire of late. The Accuplaylist has been fun, though. Really enjoy the interaction during the show.

So glad Summer is here. Hope you enjoy yours. Keep listening and ... always remember.

Clay Pigeon - NYC

Don't Forget! I'll be filling in for Julie on Dark Night of the Soul next Mon night/Tues morning at 3am. Tune in and I'll be playing great vinyl and taking some calls. Until then ...... A.R.

I recall another easy-listenting folkie (can't remember who) say that the commercial jingles he wrote had changed him from an obscure folk artist to an obscure folk artists with a really nifty condo on Riverside Drive.

  6:28pm
dave:

classic dusty show
  6:28pm
Robert:

That should be one of the station's slogans, like right under the sound bit of the day: "This is where we changed the batteries, so from here on it should be pretty good."
  6:28pm
dale:

it's upstate dale, not iowa dale, but yeah, thanks - life is fine. having a vodka and tonic, amish style fat free pretzels and listening to the radio, and have no debt or maladies, so can't complain
  6:30pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Great show Clay! :)
  6:30pm
david:

this was always on lazaa as Van Morrison... you're bringing me back, Clay!

david:

  6:30pm
Ant:

This is a smooth tune.
  6:31pm
Brick Van Dee:

Wow, never heard the original "dancing in the moonlight" before. Only the hideous Toploader version which they played constantly when I was a student...
  6:31pm
Fredericks:

You could play this all the way through, Clayton
  6:31pm
Legal Code:

That's known as "assultin' batteries"

Obvious Guy:

This guy's a Drama King, wow!
  6:37pm
Julie London:

He just has that way.
  6:38pm
Clay:

Wrestling with this Accuplaylist and tape issues. Analog is just a constant fight.
  6:38pm
Ant:

Clay's show is the (actual) best show on WFMU. All pathos, with a little bad prog. I love it.
  6:38pm
Clay:

Willie Brandt.
  6:38pm
david:

that's the magic of Clay
  6:39pm
Clay:

Hi Fredericks. Been missing you brother.
  6:39pm
dale:

hope you used a c60 so you don't have to turn it over!!
  6:39pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

Unbelievable show, in the greatest sense- thank you Mr Dusty! I am another clown too. and we are are all Bozos on this bus, as Firesign used to say. You probably helped that guy a lot!
  6:39pm
Marmalade Kitty:

I mean it, Clay! Your excursions into the everyday conscience/sub conscience of the passer by, via open confrontation.. Always great :)
  6:40pm
Clay:

I always use 90's Dale, which makes no sense.
  6:41pm
Clay:

Thanks Persian. I don't do it for money, but I crave the love.
  6:41pm
phillip:

any vancouver riots?
  6:41pm
glenn:

oh clay. there are about a bajillion better bands from toronto than rush.
  6:42pm
Julie London:

Clay we need to digitize you. And I mean you personally. I brought a nifty WAV recorder with me. I could do street interviews if I were so inclined.
  6:42pm
Clay:

Yes Phillip ... Triumph! April Wine!
  6:42pm
glenn:

that said, any time you want to come up, you got a place to stay.
  6:43pm
Ant:

Wish we could have funded a plane ticket for Clay to cover the Vancouver hockey riots. If we had known. Imagine the imbecility, the Canadian hockey-sadness.
  6:44pm
Clay:

I saw one of those Julie ... a Sanyo, for $59. Just about ready to take the plunge.
  6:44pm
glenn:

that imbecility is kinda vancouver centric, in my opinion.
  6:44pm
Clay:

Thanks Glenn! Would love to come to Vancouver and ski Whistler. And not wreck.
  6:45pm
fleep:

Yet the riot generated that photo of the couple making out on the street as the rioters retreated, so out of stupidity comes great moments
  6:45pm
Julie London:

those riots were insane! Couldn't believe my eyes
  6:45pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

Canada is where the great Tragically Hip will play in Charlottetown June 30. I am driving the 1000 miles to see them! Interview me there sir, if you can!
  6:45pm
Clay:

Miss ya Julesberg.
  6:45pm
dale:

i have a hamilton camp rekkid - star spangled bus is a good tune
  6:46pm
dave:

@hopey
he's on the level--no bullshit-i think thats how
  6:46pm
Clay:

Cool Dale. I like him now. And Peter Cofield.
  6:46pm
Julie London:

I miss you too! But at least I can listen.
  6:47pm
glenn:

the hip are indeed great. ( i use to go see them play in toronto bars for 5 bucks)
  6:47pm
david:

What's this about a departure from cassettes?
  6:47pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Why does it seem like this Vancouver is getting such attention? LA went nuts last year, Montreal burned a cop car when they one the OPENING SERIES of the playoffs a few years ago. Not even the championship series.
  6:48pm
Ant:

Meant no disrespect to Canada. Similar imbecility was invoked during the OBL celebration, (also wonderfully doc'd by Clay. Perhaps my favorite recent show. It's a classic.)
  6:48pm
thomas:

welcome to te other side
  6:48pm
Clay:

Truly ... I hope the day never comes. David. Isn't Heart from Vancouver?
  6:49pm
Clay:

TY Ant
  6:49pm
glenn:

maybe because van. is supposed to be such a granola peaceful place?
  6:49pm
Ant:

Rioting out of joy is acceptable!
  6:49pm
Minnesota Jeff:

I fully expect every a city to riot when they Win a championship, but usually not when they lose. Guess thats the difference.
  6:49pm
fleep:

Ecstatic looting - ok!
  6:50pm
glenn:

heart's from seattle. they recorded the first record in vancouver. ( maybe more, i don't know)
  6:50pm
Julie London:

Heart are from Seattle
  6:50pm
Clay:

If the Brewers win the World Series, I wil riot!
  6:50pm
Clay:

Mushroom Records, Glenn.
  6:51pm
phillip:

i wonder what adbusters magazine thinks about the riots?
  6:51pm
glenn:

i fully expect the red sox to win the world series this year.
  6:51pm
J J:

That's an insane story about the baby. Guy was so dry in telling it.
  6:51pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Thanks be to the Kings that won't ever happen!
  6:51pm
Minnesota Jeff:

In reference to the Brewers.
  6:52pm
dale:

this sounds more like rosemary's baby than a bible story
  6:52pm
moose:

do magazines think?

PERFECT show
  6:52pm
Ant:

For the SF Giants, we had a tame, hippie version of a riot and it was so much fun. A few oblig. stabbings but mostly exultation and dancing in the streets!
  6:54pm
Clay:

TY Moose
  6:54pm
Clay:

I remember the earthquake in Frisco and the World Series.
  6:54pm
Clay:

athens riots?
  6:56pm
Clay:

I'm going to have to sign-off and make room for Night People. See you guys Tuesday am at 3, filling in for Julie. Thanks for all your support my friends. Have a great weekend. Always remember.
  6:56pm
Ant:

Today's generic was excellent.
  6:57pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

@glenn:
Thanks. The poorer Atlantic Canada is rich in music. Not prone to riots or crime of any kind. The Hip used to be great, and the warm folks on PEI will be good company for a concert that cost me way more than that! I am jealous.
  6:57pm
phillip:

shazz ya later
  6:58pm
thomas:

first the dusty show and now night people. i must be in heaven.
  6:59pm
Julie London:

Yes that's right! Dark Dusty Night next week tues 3am :) Thanks Clay! Love ya (and grumbly Fabio too)
  7:00pm
glenn:

aw, don't be jealous. i'm sure there are lots of people out there who used to see r.e.m. or the clash or madonna or whoever for 5 bucks, or less. ya gotta start somewhere.
  7:00pm
dale:

dusty after dark
  7:01pm
Obvious Guy:

Dusky Dusty
  7:05pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

Just saying, rioting is not normal there at all. Hockey is serious in ways I do not understand. The girls team in Morell, PEI can beat the Philadelphia professional one any time. It is a village of 300 people. The rink is like Allah's tomb or something. Do you see?
  7:08pm
glenn:

dude, i was on skates when i was four. i played hockey til i was nineteen. i get it, don't worry.
  7:19pm
depressed Persian cab driver:

There are no rinks where i grew up. Obviously. But I like watching the hockey games. Again, so jealous of you, Glenn! I get good tips for knowing something about sports and must settle for that in 2011 USA.
  7:50pm
SHIMMY SHIMMY SHAM:

pssst...can you hear me?
  8:10pm
SHIMMY SHIMMY SHAM:

Doesn't seem to be anyone here. Maybe I'll make it my home.
  8:15pm
SHIMMY SHIMMY SHAM:

This corner feels comfortable. Let me set my belongings down...
  8:23pm
SHIMMY SHIMMY SHAM:

I sure am hungry. Maybe I'll have a bite to eat. Then I'll go to sleep...
  8:37pm
SHIMMY SHIMMY SHAM:

I wonder what Clay is doing right now? Is he thinking of England? Is he humming Rush songs in his head? Does he have an itch he can't reach?
