Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

hmm, not quite the same, is it?
  9:28am
T-Zero:

PSEG says due to flooding they're taking the power station down. Will that affect WFMU?
  9:28am
G:

I've five miles north of Coney Island, where the storm came onshore, and I've seen worse wind multiple times every summer when there's a big thunderstorm. That big weekend rainstorm earlier this month was much worse. I have a feeling Bloomberg overreacted as some sort of make-good for being in Bermuda during the blizzard. Like people always say, Don't buy the hype!
  9:29am
Jay/ London:

has wfmu got back up ??
  9:31am

  9:52am
Lisa:

@Frenchee- I just saw a report from the boardwalk. There was absolutely nothing going on. The reporter was trying to play like it was important, but he started laughing.
  9:53am
G:

I'm five miles north of Coney, and wind is under 20 miles an hour with no rain at all. Maybe right on the beach itself there is some surge, I don't know. The weather was worse yesterday when there were some downpours for awhile. The storm must have totally petered out overnight if I am near the center of it.
  9:55am
frenchee:

NO Frenchee isn't saying anthing about the boardwalk, LISA is answering me.
Hi CLAY
  9:55am

  10:03am

culottes are shorts with a flap in the front to make them look like a skirt.
  10:04am
frenchee:

Oooops
Then I'm not in culottes I'm in a playsuit.
  10:05am

  10:06am
Dan B From Upstate:

O-Bam-a Margera?

Love Intellectual Plankton discussions from the tide pool stirring the morning ferment. Free the 8,700 incarcerated stormrunners! Under the guise of providing safe havens, they have no food, 3 hour bathroom lines and armed guards. Pity the fool who didn't bring extra batteries for their radio for your all night blast... we luv ya!
  10:37am
clay:

TY Buzzard! Pretty leaky here. Main control room has buckets everywhere. Turntable 2 took a bath. 4th floor bathroom ceiling sagging. Have had nothing but Mountain Dew for 36-hours.
  10:39am
Buzzard:

See what female companionship will get you?
  10:39am

  11:16am
Cliff:

You were slow with the button...I heard the bad word!
  11:17am
Parq:

It occurs to me, since Keili grew up with WFMU listeners for parents, she's probably doesn't know any of these super-mainstream songs Clay is invoking.

Client Sine:

Go way back: godfather of goth: Orson Welles?
  11:26am
Heavy:

Edgar Allen Poe
  11:26am
Robert:

Radio ads are often crappier. For instance, there's a psychologist who advertises hypnosis, which he claims has "evolved from an entertainment venue". Would you go to a hypnotist who doesn't know what "venue" means?

And then he goes on: "Whether you have a weight problem, a diction problem...." I think he's saying "addiction", but he makes it sound like speech therapy.
  11:28am
Robert:

Well, there was "Post Serial" from WCWP, C.W. Post College. Lot of graduates in the radio biz from that show.
  11:28am
Lisa:

  11:35am
Parq:

I thought "The Dead Zone", with its broad arc through recent history, was King's best novel. The movie was, necessarily, just an outline of the book.

  11:41am
Lisa:

K- Do the Carlton dance from Fresh Prince to this song!
  11:41am
Peter K.:

The so-called "7Up guy" is named Geoffrey Holder, and he's also a choreographer, director, and a few other things. The Stephen King book about a pet cemetery is actually called "Pet Sematary," deliberately misspelled. The best thing about the movie is the theme song, by the Ramones: "I don't wanna be buried/In a pet cemetery/I just want to live my life, oh yeah."
  11:43am
Parq:

Best Steven King movie for my money is still "Carrie" - Piper Laurie desperately muttering "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."
