  12:18pm
SmallyBiggs:

  12:22pm
Dez:

Totally digging the TANK!
  12:25pm
Terry:

The RODS! Yeah!
  12:27pm
Dez:

I really need to re-familiarize myself with The Rods! They used to get played on WNHU 99.5 in New Haven way way back in the day. Been checking out their stuff more in preparation for today's show!
  12:27pm
Terry:

Check out therods.com for RODS info!
  12:30pm
Dez:

Thanks Terry. I will. Got some stuff in my cart at Amazon for when I get some more work later in the fall.
  12:36pm
Terry:

No prob, Dez! They're on Facebook, too....look for The Rods Fan Page.
  12:37pm
Dez:

OK will do now...
  12:37pm
Dez:

  12:38pm
Cheri Pi:

The Monkey's "The Monkeys"
  12:41pm
emmagineering:

mmmmminor threat! enjoying the show D!
  12:43pm
Dez:

OMG! Pitchshifter! Nice! Love those first two albums.
  12:43pm
Rodney:

I will always admire Pitchshifter for their brazen Godflesh worship/theft.
  12:44pm
Dez:

true Rodney true!! especially on that first EP
  12:45pm
joe:

yeah kind of sound like GF with a little more Ministry and a little less bottom end
  12:46pm
Rodney:

Bastardiser is basically Breed Like Rats.
  12:48pm
Dez:

Yeah- Godflesh RULES the "bottom end"!! hahaha. "Streetcleaner" and "Born Again" were the only two albums I'd have to really turn the bass down so that they sounded good on my old stereo back in the day.
  12:49pm
bill:

AC's best album!
  12:51pm
dirk:

These phased cymbals sound crazy!
  12:51pm
Chris from DC:

Just saw Godflesh will be at next year's Deathfest. It's a pretty great lineup (Napalm Death, Electric Wizard, YOB, etc.).
  12:51pm
pierre:

that's a very very very cool radio ID
  12:52pm
joe:

Yeah Deathfest does look very appealing this year. Think I'm going to make the trip
  12:55pm
andymorphic:

child abuse....fresh...fractured....frantic....so fucking good!!!
  12:55pm
Dez:

I HAVE to make the trip- just for Godflesh and Electric Wizard alone- not to mention the other gems. Absolutely!
  12:56pm
Chris from DC:

And Church of Misery!
  12:57pm
Rodney:

I love this era of Anthrax.
  12:59pm
Chesney:

Speaking of which, how about throwing on some Electric Wizard? Maybe 'Patterns of Evil', or 'The Nightchild'?
  1:00pm
Dez:

talk about "bottom end"- Electric Wizard RULES IT with "Come My Fanatics" album!
  1:07pm
Dez:

"Spreading The Disease" is a masterful production job! I love that record!!!!
  1:08pm
joe:

and those folks where are their seats at Yankee Stadium tomorrow?
  1:09pm
Dez:

I liked Joey much more than Neil Turbin! I agree whole-heartedly!
  1:11pm
joe:

I guess Anthrax really has a thing for firing singers in the studio :)
  1:15pm
carl canedy:

Dez, thanks for the kind comment.
  1:18pm
joe:

Carl have any early memories of Larry Lalonda and his playing abilities?
  1:19pm
Dez:

MY PLEASURE Carl! Seriously that album used to just EXPLODE out of my speakers- it is so raw and crunchy- nothing else in that genre sounded like that to me back then. 1985- everything heavy was so impressionable to me and that album sounded great no matter what I played it on- walkman, car stereo, etc.
  1:21pm
Marmalade Kitty:

when I was young sounds like dandelion seeds vice versa..
  1:21pm
Dez:

I think that "Spreading the Disease" production sound got copied on albums like "Speak English or Die" and "Taking Over" to name a few
  1:23pm
bill:

Love to hear props for the Kinks
  1:23pm
Dez:

AMEN bill!
  1:24pm
joe:

Carl is the first of the Peer Pressure participants to venture into the darkness that is comment board
  1:24pm
Terry:

That's because Carl rocks!
  1:29pm
Dez:

I wish MORE bands had that attitude!
  1:31pm
Terry:

Oh, all three of THE RODS are fantastic - very approachable and just all-around nice guys. Always good to their fans.
  1:33pm
Eric:

The Rods are true metal all the way!
  1:37pm
joe:

I have to agree with DK on Dio. I have only heard one person make negative comments about Dio and that is Vivian Cambell which leads me to think VC has the issue
  1:37pm
slugluv1313:

LOVE hearing that Animals song!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
  1:37pm
Dez:

I loved the Heaven and Hell reunion!!! Dio had a great sense of humor as well! I love how he ripped on Gene Simmons a little in "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey"!
  1:42pm
joe:

@Dez is that one where Dio says Gene has the Orange Juice trademarked? LOL
  1:43pm
Dez:

YES!!! What a scream! LOL!
  1:45pm
Dez:

I'd put $$$ that Carl Canedy is a fan of STRAY!!! But then again who knows if he's heard of them- a criminally under-rated and unheard of proggy and hard rock band.
  1:45pm
joe:

Yeah delivered it so well he had me on the hook like half a second too.
  1:46pm
carl canedy:

I'll have to check them out. I've never heard of the band.
  1:46pm
Dez:

OMG!! CACTUS!!!!!! YES!!!!
  1:47pm
Terry:

OK Carl, I want a copy of that song! Why is that not for sale in the RODS online store? Hmmm?
  1:48pm
carl canedy:

This song was inspired my Warren Jeffs "wives" speaking after he was arrested. It's a demo with playing and singing. It'll be on my solo album soon.
  1:48pm
Dez:

Steve Harris is a huge fan of STRAY. It took me YEARS to track down only two of their albums- they have 8. I highly recommend them- their stuff has all been re-issued on CD. Each album sounds different from the next.
  1:51pm
joe:

That track was great
  1:54pm
joe:

@Dez what is the name of one of the Stray albums for point of refrence?
  1:58pm
Dez:

I would highly recommend "STRAY" (1970) and/or "Suicide" (1971) to start with. Those are pretty hard rock- but just great with their own nuances. They got more proggy after that but they're so consistent you can't go wrong with any of their records.
  1:59pm
Dez:

title track "Suicide" is amazing! Wait until you hear those solos!!!! So raw like the 1st Sabbath
  2:01pm
Dez:

Diane you said it!!!!!!!!!
  2:01pm
Dez:

THANK YOU CARL!!!!!!
  2:06pm
Ralph:

Great interview Carl You ROCK!!!
  2:07pm
seang:

  2:08pm
Dez:

  2:08pm
carl canedy:

Ralph, Thanks for the kind words.
  2:10pm
bill:

Leslie, were you really standing on your pillow?
  2:12pm
Alex:

  2:13pm
Necati Tufenk:

  2:22pm

  2:26pm
kamikaze:

Thanks to everyone for chiming in and thanks to CARL for ruling!

xoxo
  2:27pm
carl canedy:

Necati, thank you so much for listening.
  2:32pm
Alex:

Ronnie... shivers as always. Great song!
  2:33pm
Necati Tufenk:

My Pleasure! We were 15 years old when we first listened to The Rods through pirate tapes in 1983 in a small city in Turkey.. We were a small band trying to play heavy music. Some members became top heavy rock musicians of Turkish music scene. Your influnece and inspiration was big on us. Thank you again for everything. A big hello to the other Rods.
  2:35pm
carl canedy:

I was just thinking the same thing hearing this now. I can't believe he's gone. It was so kind of him to sing one of my songs. Truly the highlight of my career.
  2:36pm
carl canedy:

Necati, that's so humbling to read. Thank you so much. I'm going to share this with Garry and David. You made my day.
  2:38pm
Alex:

Yes hard to believe... still. But you guys are still here! YOU ROCK!!!
  2:40pm
joe:

How about some Overkill to go along with the Carl theme of the show :)
  2:42pm
Necati Tufenk:

Diane! Will you be attending Roadburn 2012 as Voivod is the curator:))
  2:44pm
Eric:

This show is making me feel like I'm in high school again. Any chance you could play some Legs Diamond "Out On Bail"? That would rule!
  2:44pm
kamikaze:

@Necati, it is my intention to go; April is a long way off, but at this point I am certainly planning on it... Sleep, Voivod, Saviours... hell yeah!
  2:47pm
Necati Tufenk:

Great ! Hope to meet you there! I have been listening to your show since 2004. A great job you are doing ! I can say this as I have been a radio DJ since 1995..Congratulations!!
  3:00pm
joe:
