Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Unfortunately, I had to leave Zuccotti to attend to other obligations on the day this show was taped. Later that evening, the NYPD invaded the park and made many arrests. It was, however, an inspiring day and one sensed a renewal of energy in the movement.
Just prior to completing this episode, I heard a march going past our loft. I ran out with my micro-cassette recorder and joined the march as it proceeded to Times Square. The march was part of the Million Hoodie March, commemorating and protesting what many believe to be the unjust death of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, FLA. Here is a link that explains the case in detail:

Thanks for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I hope you enjoyed it. I had a lot of audio-footage to edit down ... almost three hours of it. Lately, I've been wondering if I should add the extra stuff to the podcast? Something to ponder.

The six-month anniversary was a moving event to witness. Though it may have lacked some of the visceral power of early-Occupy days at the Zuccotti encampment, there was still a sense of renewed energy in the air. The NYPD seemed to be making a statement of their own as well, so it ill be interesting and crucial to see how it all plays out in the months ahead. I'll follow it when I can, trying to tap into the feeling of the moment ... Doccupying, as it were. Hopefully you'll make the trip with me. I'm sure they'll be interesting developments. There always are. Until next time. Take care. Always Remember.

Wait, (check) NOW you're accounted for!

"Stay strong, smoke weed." In THAT order, everybody. :)
Avatar 6:08pm
Clay:

Glad you are here. Advanced warning ... this show is all audio footage from Zuccotti ... no music. My preferred format is a mix of music and live audio, but I had so much tape this time, I edited it all into an hour of anniversary. Next week ... music. Maybe.

Clay:

Didn't get to include my 5 new Flea Market Finds! Also March 12th 4-hour Dusty ... filling in for Fabio.

Well, the chant is very rhythmic and almost musical, so no worries Clay!

TY Caryn. Hope life in Finland is fantastic and that you have a roof over your head.

Don't humanize that woman! Show 4 second clip of her screaming her ass off, and cut back to anchor! Don't let her explain her grievances like that!
  6:12pm
kata:

Hey you guys and gals, I watched "The F Word" last week -- anyone seen it ? Clay, you should watch it, it's basically about YOU ! :) ..with coverage of RNC in 2004. It's not as interesting than your coverage actually, but interesting how similar occupy's gist is to the RNC protests.
  6:13pm
Caryn:

Thanks, Clay! Life not necessarily fantastic, but the more anti-woman ridiculousness comes out of GOP mouths, the happier I am to be living over here.
  6:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: What's kind of astounding is the strong mental continuity: all the way from the first OWS gatherings in September, to Occupy Congress in January, to the present. The core chants have remained, and remain popular and strong!

@Clay: Music may be lacking in this episode, but I had an idea today called "Clay's Quarters": 15 minutes of your 4 usual topics, interspersed through the episode! 15 minutes Occupy audio, 15 other man on the street interviews, 15 radio drama, and 15 of vinyl exhumation!

Kind of like old-school staccato Sesame Street, Pidge style!
  6:18pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: And don't mind trolly, he's a regular troll!

I liked the last couple of shows Matt. With some music. I just get caught up in it, you know? I'll keep working on it. Thanks for your input.

More committed than ever, Matt.
  6:19pm
Caryn:

@Matt: too true. And a nice counter to the "OWS has no clear message" argument.
Have had a few short jobs (election official, translations etc.), but no actual permanent job. But keep looking... Occasionally get too stressed. Yesterday, started weeping in the insurance company office because I can't get health insurance and my premiums just doubled. (Have fallen into a pattern of stress-induced weeping whenever money is discussed. Ugh.)

Speaking of music, did you notice Evan "Funk" Davies played Atomic Rooster last night? :)

Oh, man. I love Atomic Rooster. I need 3-hours. maybe this summer. Trolly gives us balance. Can't preach to the choir all the time.

My heart goes out to you Caryn. Temp jobs are so stress you out.
Sounds like Finland's going American, and not in a good way :(

  6:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Those dirty hippies need to get jobs!

Course I won't give them jobs, they're dirty hippies!
  6:24pm
glenn:

if i ever meet clay, i'm going to pretend i'm somebody else, just so he doesn't ask me if i like rush.
Avatar 6:25pm
Clay:

I know Glenn. My instinct is to ask if they love Lorne Green, but I'd be dating myself (even more).
  6:25pm
Caryn:

Well, now Clay will have to ask everyone if they like Rush, just so he can catch you out...
  6:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: Most true, but Finland's also in the Eurozone. Austerity and stress throughout all the countries--I supported the Euro project until I realized how strict it is managed, even in economic crisis. At least the Federal Reserve can release money as needed.
  6:26pm
Matt from Springfield:

DAMN IT MONSANTO!! When will you go away??!!
Avatar 6:26pm

Is Rush big in Finland Caryn, or is it all Aha and Roxette?

  6:28pm
Matt from Springfield:

Any Parsnippity [sp?] listeners in the house?! :)
  6:28pm

Yeah, in everyday use, the Euro made some things, like travel, easier. But when a crisis hits, the bad side is massive.

Avatar 6:30pm

Mila Kunis. She is all the rage presently. I liked her in Black Swan. I wish she would come on. I am going to try and interview the singer of The Joy Formidable next week.
  6:30pm
Caryn:

@Clay: heh, I'm sure all 3 have their fans, but I don't think any of those would be in the top 30 or even 50 bands in the world if you asked the entire populace.
  6:33pm
Caryn:

Cheri's love of Mila Kunis continues... She's very self-conscious about singing, though, so if you do ever have her on, you might have to do all the singing, Clay. But maybe she'll dance along?
