Carmichael:

Yo Joe. It's just after 9 here in CA, and this sounds great!

Ken From Hyde Park:

Every week, those silly space muppets get totally confused by the radio they encounter. You think they'd finally figure it out.
  12:09am
Carmichael:

Russ Ballard wrote New York Groove?? How about that ...
Avatar 12:09am
Joe McG:

Hey, Carmichael and Ken! Don't usually see you daytimers!

Ken From Hyde Park:

If I didn't need sleep or have a job to go to, I'd never leave this place.

Carmichael:

I'm just hanging out, Joe. This is Chinn/Chapman.
Avatar 12:15am
Joe McG:

@carmichael: Indeed it is! (was)
  12:21am
Carmichael:

I don't know the reason, but you've dialed in my youth. I heard most of these songs on transistor radio, out back in the fields.

It's a little scary ... :-)
  12:22am
Marc in Liverpool:

I got worried and thought that was Gary Glitter for a second.
Avatar 12:22am
Joe McG:

Back in the fields?
Avatar 12:23am
Joe McG:

@Marc: I swear, he's not in the building.
  12:24am
Carmichael:

Behind my home, he he ... We had a farm/pasture thing going on. Couldn't sneak pop music in the house.

@Carmichael: It's best when it's verboten.

Killing me loudly!
Avatar 12:28am

@Chop Scott: Ha!
  12:39am
Marc in Liverpool:

In the UK they made a tv movie called the Execution of Gary Glitter. A fictional story if the death penalty was reintroduced.
Avatar 12:41am
Joe McG:

@Marc: Did Gary get the chair or was he lethally injected?
  12:41am
chris m.:

i like your new bed music and i also like this song
Avatar 12:42am

Thanks, Chris! Stay tuned for Imaginary Radio after this program, folks. Three hours of Foghat, guaranteed!

chris m.:

thanks, Joe! i'll bring your usual cash fee with me
  12:47am
Marc in Liverpool:

They might've hung him. That's the method used for the last capital punishment in Britain. We're low tech.
Avatar 12:48am
Joe McG:

@chris: It's extra for on-air promotion.
Avatar 12:49am
Joe McG:

@Marc: I can guess what they hung him by!
  1:04am
Matt from Springfield:

Play What Ever You Want, It's All Right Joe!
  1:08am
Matt from Springfield:

That's funny--many people (myself included) always get Gary Glitter and Gary Gilmore confused (the first American executed after capital punishment was reinstated). I was about to say how in the state of Utah, Mr. Gilmore was actually executed by firing squad. He preferred that to hanging.
Avatar 1:11am
Joe McG:

Hey, Matt! You mean there isn't a great British TV movie about the execution of Gary Glitter?
  1:12am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: I'd like to see that movie actually--but I was about to correct Marc because I knew the circumstance of Gary Gilmore's execution--only to find out that he WAS talking about Gary Glitter, this time!
  1:14am
Matt from Springfield:

Lovely Sandstone!
A light, Latiny version of Bryter Layter instrumentals!
Avatar 1:17am
Joe McG:

It's such a nice little album, recorded in my neck of the woods, near where I grew up, in the early 70s by a trio of teenagers.
  1:19am
Chop Scott:

I need a line somewhat softer in tone yet conveying "clown show" for a nasty landlord letter---Any help out there?
  1:20am
Matt from Springfield:

I heart local productions, on local labels! I've bought a few such gems over the years. Nothing Earth-shaking so far, but all of them as good as any other record from their days.

What a name, Formerly Fat Harry! This is also a nice song. But why were those recordings lost??! Well, as long as they're found now :)
  1:21am
Matt from Springfield:

Hey Scott!
Depends: do you mean the LL's management is like a "clown show", or are you complaining about "clown show" neighbors?
  1:22am
12539:

Farce?
  1:23am
Matt from Springfield:

Lush, early 70s arrangements, to 80s Feelies, to a modern new release: ALL of them blending together in the same vibe! How wonderful! Especially for the late night.
Avatar 1:25am
Joe McG:

Single File will kill the flow dead, Matt! @Scott: What's going on with the landlord?
  1:29am
Matt from Springfield:

Santo and Johnny! Trying to put my finger on who that was!
Good bed music, add this to your regular assortment.
  1:29am
Matt from Springfield:

On the plus side though, Single File is another totally special thing! Always welcomed here!
  1:32am
Chop Scott:

Clown Show. The true descriptive term----Landlord, contractors--I cannot believe the situation I am in-Have to write something tonight Need a softer langauge, and I am so
angry. to edit in the light of morning

The #1 DJ!
Avatar 1:36am
Joe McG:

@Scott: It's tough to do it when you're angry. Better to cool off and go back to it later.
  1:38am
Matt from Springfield:

@C.Scott: Softer terms might be "dysfunctional", "inconsiderate", it depends how you're using them. But, like Joe says, write what you feel, back off it for a while and re-edit the whole thing when you're feeling calmer.
Avatar 1:40am
Joe McG:

Hi, ledzepsucks!
  1:40am
Chop Scott:

Yes, indeed. I'll drink more and write some very shitty things to purge now and edit tomorrow! Thanks all...

Matt from Springfield:

No problem, Scott.

"Loose Booty"! Here is Joe's typical exquisite taste! ;)

Matt from Springfield:

Never heard of the Jah Guidance label--do you have more of these, or is this the only one you've found?
Avatar 1:56am

@Matt: No, cheap reggae 45s are kind of hard to come by for me, so this is def. the only one I have on Jah Guidance!

Magazine!!
  2:25am
chris m.:

thank you for playing my favorite Magazine song as a special dedication to me.
Avatar 2:25am
Joe McG:

@Matt: You weren't with us early in the show, but isn't there something just vaguely Gary Glitter-ish about that guitar riff?
Avatar 2:26am
Joe McG:

I'd like to dedicate that Magazine track to Chris M. of Imaginary Radio. The light is pouring out of him right now. You can bask in its rays in about a half hour!
  2:28am
chris m.:

Joe McG just earned another $50
  2:28am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: Sure, maybe a little bit slower and higher, and you'd have a workable early 70s Glitter riff.
Avatar 2:29am
Joe McG:

Matt from Springfield:

HWWOW. Just noticed the "From 1965" comment! John Cale is certainly a forward-thinker...but THAT much forward at the time, wow!
Avatar 2:31am
Joe McG:

@Matt: Yeah, it sounds like somebody just put this out last week, right?
  2:33am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: YEAH! Or, 1971 minimum. MINIMUM mind you! John's busted the space-time continuum! :)
Avatar 2:33am
Joe McG:

Or at least some of his guitar strings.
  2:35am
Matt from Springfield:

Is Sun Blindness Music Cale's own album, or a comp?
Avatar 2:36am
Joe McG:

It's a comp of things he did in 1965 that Tony Conrad recorded at home. It's all him, but he never put it out himself.
  2:38am
Matt from Springfield:

Amazing relic of early guitar (and rhythm, and sonic) experimentation! Glad someone decided to release that!

Ahhh, more people should do Brian Eno covers!
Avatar 2:39am
Joe McG:

I wouldn't argue with that!
  2:40am
Matt from Springfield:

The steel guitar here certainly brings out the country elements of the original.
