Hey All! No guest today, it's all me! Next week I have Josh Graham of Neurosis, A Storm of Light and Battle of Mice on; super excited about that...actually super excited about playing stuff on my own today! xox
  12:15pm
BSI:

@Cecile: more like they're sitting in a wide circle on a canary-yellow deep-shag carpet and appreciatively nodding in slo-mo...

...........ah, rising up now, perchance to spazz...
  12:15pm
Cheri Pi:

Greeting DK, the rest of yous.
  12:17pm
Cheri Pi:

I can't believe you just played that DK, I've been on a DAF kick recently.
  12:18pm
Cheri Pi:

I think we're all occupying each-others' minds right about now. group hug.
  12:32pm
Cheri Pi:

yeah!!!!!!!!!!!
  12:33pm
Cheri Pi:

cranks earbuds up "just a titch"
  12:36pm
Cheri Pi:

fuck- this is going to be brutally beautiful too.
  12:37pm
joe:

I always found it interesting with all the talk that goes on about Bauhaus the lack of mention of Dub influence in their music has always interested me.
  12:37pm
fred:

I see I missed more than the opening theme... being on vacation is playing with my mind, but that will be over next week.
  12:44pm
Cheri Pi:

This just in: Underwater Meghan who is in now in Montreal, reports that her friends actually LIVED in Voivod's old house. I've asked her to bring back a brick or roof shingle for further analysis.
This Ufomammut is ill, I have to buy it.
  12:45pm
chris:

Love this Ufomammut. Sick ass shit.
  12:51pm
BSI:

Man, this was clearly not the set to miss.... ain't going NOWHERES now...
  12:54pm
Cecile:

a deep groovy groove here
  1:00pm
Cheri Pi:

foreshadowing!
  1:02pm
fred:

I'm tuned in for now, but at the first mention of Elvis, I'm outta here. Great selections so far, can't believe I managed to miss both Expo 70 and DAF.
  1:09pm
BSI:

I approve this groove.
  1:10pm
gauche:

First time listening to the show "live" in a year, such a brutal respite, T.Hanks Diane!
  1:11pm
Cheri Pi:

Can you believe those striplings the Shrine are going on tour w/ Fu Manchu? Good for them. (My maath answer was 666!!)
  1:11pm
Chris from DC:

Yeah, digging the Fu Manchu. Sorry I missed Ufomammut.
  1:12pm
Chris from DC:

Nice, still haven't gotten a 666.
  1:12pm
Cecile:

damn it's kicking the shift out of me.
  1:12pm
Cecile:

I hope you are playing air drums to this, Diane.
  1:12pm
Cheri Pi:

I like the name of this band. a lot. God it feels so good to be rocking out again!
  1:17pm
Cheri Pi:

anyone who rhymes "dodge dart" gets my $$$ every time
  1:20pm
BSI:

Was never a car geek but the Dart (1973 & previous) always held a certain magic(k)...
  1:24pm
Cheri Pi:

The Dart was the second most magikal vehicle after the Frazetta painted shagging van.
  1:24pm
fred:

@Cheri: who wouldn't? I think I pulled something air drumming, age is cruel
  1:25pm
BSI:

...and the Ford Falcon. Must not forget that 'un.
Otherwise, all is crap.
ah, there's my tempo...
  1:26pm
Cheri Pi:

Moi aussi fred!
  1:27pm
fred:

Cheri, who's your fave drummer (if he/she isn't on my list, he/she should be soon)
  1:32pm
Cecile:

Anyone behind my idea to get Dave Mustaine BACK on drugs?
  1:33pm
Cecile:

and YAY, Death Angel!
  1:34pm
fred:

@cecile: where do I sign?
  1:34pm
Cheri Pi:

favorite drummers! Don't get me started. Allison Busch (Awesome color/call of the wild), Dave Lombardo, Away, Dale Crover, Coady Willis (Big Business), Atsuo (Boris), Steve Shelley, Brian Chippendale, George Hurley, Grant Hart. .. come to mind.
  1:35pm
Cheri Pi:

Yes Cecile! We need the old screwball Mustaine back STAT!!!
  1:36pm
Cecile:

what about AWAY?
  1:36pm
Cheri Pi:

I rememeber fondly when Mustaine was just BATSHIT crazy.
  1:36pm
Cecile:

Oh, never mind, I can't read.

yeah, AWAY!
  1:36pm
Cheri Pi:

I have an idea though. It would involve giving him a pro-baldness drug.
  1:37pm
Cecile:

hahahahhaha, cheri.
  1:38pm
Cheri Pi:

5 Horse Johnson video for later viewing (Video made in Trenton, Michigan! -that explains a lot)
http://youtu.be/la71e6-Tyw4
  1:38pm
Cecile:

He was on That Metal Show and said nothing brilliantly infuriating nor moronically stupid. And no fistfights broke out. I knew there was something off with him.
  1:40pm
Cecile:

he has too much jesus in his life. not enough tequila.
  1:41pm
Cheri Pi:

exactly, his "ISM" disease has been sublimated when it needs to be liberated. I'm on the case now!
  1:42pm
BSI:

@Cecile: Funny... we just switched cable TV vendors, just discovered "That Metal Show" -- Interesting concept. Oprah-concept chat-show for collector-nerd 'bangers. Oddly fascinating... can't look away...
  1:42pm
fred:

@Cheri: thanks! all references cut and pasted for further gig-hunting. Mine is still Tom Rainey, but do check out Edward Perraud if you have the opportunity, he can skillfully improvise with a noise band, which isn't easy
  1:42pm
Cheri Pi:

Just to get a base line though, did Eddie Trunk throw some softballs at him or were they flirting with controversy?
  1:43pm
Cecile:

He needs to get a message from God that he needs to start fighting with Lars Ulrich again. And hire Marty Friedman back. Then fire him.
  1:44pm
Cheri Pi:

He couldn't stand the fact that Marty had better curls than he did.
  1:44pm
Cecile:

Eddie was mostly talking about the Big Four show.
Then Rex Brown and Dave and Vinny Appice started talking about recent major surgeries. I felt like I was watching an AARP talk show.
  1:45pm
Cecile:

Tom Rainey is amazing. Amazing!
I also like John Betsch a whole lot. Tiny drum kit, whole lotta soul.
  1:45pm
Cheri Pi:

thanks Fred I will do it for sure!!!
  1:46pm
Cecile:

when Dave said "I do it all for the fans, I love the fans."
I was appalled.

I thought "NO YOU DON'T! STOP THAT!"
  1:47pm
Cheri Pi:

Yeah!!!! Shrine!!!
  1:47pm
Cecile:

tom rainey drums a whole lot with the most excellent tim berne.
  1:47pm
fred:

@Cecile: I hear some R (aka D) Cheney is available with voice-of-God experience. He requires hearts as payment, but the experience is quite rare, and he has presidential-level reference
  1:47pm
John Lisa:

Diane...you are ROCKIN it today.
  1:48pm
Cheri Pi:

lets talk about drummers. I always give the drummer some if possible, hence being married to one briefly.
  1:49pm
Cecile:

yeah, I think Cheney needs to have a "step slowly away from Jesus" meeting with Mustaine.
  1:53pm
joe:

Yeah I said the same thing when I saw who was opening that Graves show :)
  1:53pm
fred:

@Cheri: problem is that Cheney seems like the shoot first, talk later type, he's tough to handle, he'd soon get you into a war or something
  1:53pm
Cecile:

Hamid Drake?
Dave Lombardo?
Tito Puente?
  1:54pm
joe:

@Cecile I've been champion for DM back on drugs ever since the first Gigantour.
  1:55pm
Cheri Pi:

I know that Joe is ready to wage war between Lars & Dave.
  1:56pm
Cecile:

Well, i don't think I'd want to trade what peace there is in the world for an unstable Dave Mustaine and a good Megadeth album, so I'll have to listen to the old stuff. Although it is tempting....

Right on, Joe.
  1:56pm
fred:

@cheri, cecile: I faintly remember that one of you wanted to bring Peter Brotzmann over. I might have an opportunity to slip a word about that to him next year. Is that wishful thinking or do you have a suitable venue lined up?
  1:57pm
KP:

I always thought the joke about someone who hangs out with musicians being a drummer was wrong. That's the bass player.
  1:57pm
Cheri Pi:

NWOBHM!!!!!
  1:58pm
joe:

Personal favorite drummer John Wright of NoMeansNo
  1:59pm
Cheri Pi:

Brotzmann is performing in Wisconsin which is near both Cecile and myself. does he have a booking agent because have some nice venues here in Cincinnati that might be suitable. and many fans of course.
  1:59pm
joe:

The war of Lars and Dave would make for some great reality show. They could call it One and a Half Men.
  2:00pm
Cheri Pi:

hahahahah Joe.
  2:00pm
Cecile:

It was a kickstarter, Fred, and stupid Minneapolis wasn't ready for Peter Brotzmann in a private concert in a great music room with under 100 people for only $20. It is still annoying to me. It would have happened next month if it was going to happen.
  2:01pm
fred:

@KP: it's often the other way around. The drummer tends to have rehearsal spacen being the loudest of the band
  2:01pm
Cecile:

It wasn't my kickstarter, but I enthusiastically endorsed it.
  2:01pm
Cecile:

Diane, please play "I'm so tired of this terrible war!"
  2:02pm
Cecile:

Oh, Fred Votel from TVBC, Cows and Seawhores is awesome.
  2:02pm
Cheri Pi:

and dedicate it to Lars & Dave.
  2:03pm
KP:

Yes but no musician would hang out with a drummer. You meet them at the gig, shake hands, play, pay.
  2:03pm
Cheri Pi:

Seawhores are an amazing band. I love them hard right now.
  2:03pm
Cecile:

Cheri and Joe, I might have to make a poster for that reality show...
  2:03pm
Cheri Pi:

Please Cecile please!!! do eet!!!
  2:04pm
Luna:

Am I not receiving updates in the comments section, or is really that quiet here today?
  2:04pm
joe:

Back on drummrs for a second anybody familier with Lux. She currently plays with the Nekromantix but has worked with many others check her out. I would to say the next coming of D. Lombardo.
  2:04pm
Cheri Pi:

Maybe Brotzmann would do the soundtrack for our commercial.
  2:05pm
Cecile:

you're not receiving updates. You might have to switch it to basic mode, luna
  2:05pm
Cheri Pi:

no I don't know Lux, but i will.
  2:05pm
joe:

@Luna it's been happening for a while now you have to manually refresh.
  2:05pm
Cheri Pi:

VOIVOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2:06pm
Cecile:

voivod!!!!!!
  2:06pm
fred:

@cecile: I can't believe it didn't work. I'd have pledged for that even though I'm nowhere near, the more he plays to appreciative and demanding audiences, the better he gets.
  2:06pm
Luna:

Weird. There they are.........V O I V O D !
  2:07pm
fred:

Voivod!
  2:07pm

fred, I know.
He played witha larger band in '99 and while the room wasn't totally filled, there were over 200 people there. Some people drove from the Dakotas to be there.

@Joe: Added Lux and Nekromantix to my watch list, thanks.
  2:11pm
Cecile:

hahahaha, diane.
  2:12pm
joe:

@fred when you do watch yes she does play in those shoes.
  2:14pm
fred:

@cecile: I's stress demanding. He can get into star mode too. Get Joe McPhee around as well, he'll get the best out of anyone.
  2:15pm
fred:

@joe: I live in france, so it's not a sure thing, but I'll look out for it
  2:15pm
Cecile:

he was there in 2011 for Heliotrope in Minneapolis. James from Roaroatorio brought him in. But I was in a horrible depression at the time, and didn't go see him.
  2:16pm
Cecile:

fred, I just wish someone like the Walker would bring him there. He's the kind of artist a modern art museum should support
  2:17pm
Cecile:

Joe McPhee was at Roaratorio, I must add. Whoops.

Hey-this little viking got a Coffins flexi disc in the mail from Decibel this month.
  2:23pm

@Cecile: Roaratorio? Total blast! I know people who arranged improv and noise shows in a museum in Paris. And they hosted Brotzmann several times at their own space: instants chavirés. I could put you in touch with them if you want. My gmail account is counterfnord.

@Cecile: quite often, a bunch of people sharing the cost of the plane ticket will do the trick. A little cooperation can do do wonders, but it has to start somewhere. Good luck

@ngh: I tend to separate things anyway. And G+ seems better for that than FB. Being in software, LinkedIn is good enough for a passive search.
