Saw them play once and the drummer Joe just sat there smoking a cigarette and occasionally hitting a cymbal or something. Coolest drummer on earth.

You mean... Wall of Voodoo did something BESIDES "Mexican Radio"?!

WHOA.

Sean: ever hear Ravens Moreland? I think Diane might have played them. It's one of the brothers from WoV; the other one unfortunately passed away.

today would be a good day to hear some Venom, if possible! thank you for your kind indulgence.

freakin' AWESOME!!!!! pre-Missing Foundation DRUNK DRIVING! still have this cassette myself :)
Avatar 12:16pm

huh; i'm woefully arrogant of the extended Missing Foundation family tree, but now that you mention it, I totally hear it...

Hello Ya'll..Hello Diane!!...I sign on late and miss DUST!!!!

Wall of Voodoo were amazing, MRadio was their Smoke on the Water. Such a creative killer quirk band. Still love 'em and all their pieces together and separate! BTW, no guest today, thanks for listening!!

yeah I didn't know about Missing Foundation connection either, thanks. Digging Coathangers too.

slugluv1313:

if i remember correctly, this cassette was from 1983 (altho' whenever i play it for people, they always think it is something from RIGHT NOW!) -- and from when they all (except for Tama, i think) lived here in Hoboken: Peter Missing on vocals, etc., Bob Bert on drums and other percussion, Jeff Nagle (sp.?) (RIP) on guitar, Tama (and others?) on bass . . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
tim from champaign:

I just searched "drunk driving laughing killer" and the results bummed me out. Lots of stories about DUI drivers laughing about their deed. So what the scoop on the Drunk Driving band that was just played?
Avatar 12:24pm
BSI:

whoa. interesting typo. Indeed, B.Ronald. That's more of a mind-o than a typo, maybe?
Avatar 12:25pm

Samael always reminded me of what a band with Count Floyd from SCTV would sound like.
Avatar 12:25pm

hey I think it's perfectly fine to be "woefully arrogant"
Avatar 12:25pm

The old Missing Foundation sticker still clings to my guitar, lo these 25ish years later. Gutsy little thing.
Avatar 12:28pm
slugluv1313:

interview with Bob Bert talks about the Drunk Driving days -- and yes, once upon a time, Hoboken really WAS a cool/decent/AFFORDABLE place to live!

I bought a used missing foundation CD in Vegas in 1999..and it still had the sticker inside..and that's where it still is..

@Jim - DJ Meghan, who is on 6AM Thursdays, may have some tips on theme-related programming. I'm thinking of suggesting a theme of songs about fighting. The robot theme this morning went pretty well.

We should suggest that Congress tie their votes to the Super Bowl. Niners win, we get gun control. Ravens win, raise the debt ceiling. Something along those lines. I am just full of good ideas today. I attribute it to Voivod!
