The program formerly known as Dinner at Andy's, The Fuzzy Glove Hour, Whores, and The Happiness Hut. Ken and Andy, also known as The Enema Boys, further lower WFMU's already abysmal standards on a weekly basis. Stunt radio which subjects the radio audience to concepts and topics which mature adults should not have to endure. Find the fatal flaw. (Visit homepage.)

i consider myself very tech savvy but, like Andy, i still dont understand how bitcoin relates to actual money which i can use to buy stuff. is it just like buying a share of stock?

It works the same as other markets. It is just numbers stored online somewhere. Same as your bank.

If, in the end, it turns out Andy is actually Yakamoto... well played, sir.

There are several kinds of malware which do bitcoin mining on hijacked computers. The pros don't use their own computer resources to mine bitcoins, they steal time using bot-nets. The Russians love bitcoins to hide money and pay bribes. Given that, you decide for yourself how legitimate bitcoins are.

Listening from afar tonight, talking poetry with the taxman (what a relief! If only I could integrate something so fun into every 7SD!)

But Bitcoins price is too high now--buy some once the price drops down; it will.

So in essence it's a "foreign currency" that fluctuates compared to other forms of currency as often and as rapidly as a stock price can fluctuate?

Hi BGZ!

"Magic: The Gathering"! That was a thing in the late 90s--cafeteria tables of those "involved" at school were covered in those cards.

It's extremely difficult to "guess" new bitcoins with a mining program, because they need be verified by other bitcoin clients. It's intrinsicly safe so that you can't just create bitcoins in an instant, unless someone finds a weakness in the algorithm.

@Ken, you will need TOR.
Avatar 6:23pm
Dan B From Upstate:

I... um... still have a couple of Magic the Gathering cards. I'm just surprised Andy knows what it is. I mean... I was in 7th grade once, but I can't picture Andy ever having been in 7th grade.

I think I managed to stumble upon it while trying to buy bath salts for Ken. I had to use a TOR browser though.

The bitcoin "bank" IS actually a large file (at the moment it's a few Gigabytes in size), every bitcoin user has a copy of this files. It contains all the transactions and mined bitcoins in it.

The bitcoin database has to be "forked" in order to cheat. And after the fork only those with the forked database will see the cheated bitcoins as valid. So it's practically impossible to cheat your way into getting bitcoins this way.
