Hey now Charlie and all - a lovely day in the neighborhood.
Avatar 12:02pm glenn:

you can always tell a caravaggio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Charlie:

Well hello Bob, Duke, Doug, Michael, and Glenn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Charlie:

Starting out the show with some mid-90s instrumental indie rock. As if you couldn't tell.
Avatar 12:04pm Carmichael:

"Hello young lovers, you're under arrest" (Marty Allen).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Charlie:

lol, and hi, Carmichael. Oh that Marty Allen... I should have his picture atop the playlist...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Ike:

This is right down my alley. No wait, that sounds dirty.

BTW ever notice how NYC really doesn't have any alleys?
Avatar 12:06pm fleep:

[looks at ticket, looks at row]
S'cuse me ... pardon me ... beg your pardon ... excuse me ...
[sits]
Hey, Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Jeff Golick:

S'up.

@Ike: there are a couple-three Mews, however.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Charlie:

Hi Ike, that's why it's so hard being a mugger in NYC.
Fleep - welcome sitting or standing.
Howdy fellow Drummer streamer, Jeff!
Avatar 12:10pm still b/p:

Let each of us be Mrs. Howell today...Lovey.

Media was ALIVE just this week with story of dogs hunting New York alley rats in organized recreational civic assist!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm pacific standard simon:

It's a good start, lads... Keith Richards used to sing in the school choir until his voice changed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm mise en place:

hey Ike - can you post that link to the GTDS web stream again? It actually worked for me yesterday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Parq:

I'm ashamed to admit this, but that Boston song is glorious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm listener james from westwood:

wasn't there some allegation that the famous riff from "teen spirit" borrowed from the riff in "more than a feeling"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Ike:

Mise, I believe it's wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm pacific standard simon:

Now you're cookin' with gas, Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Charlie:

James, dunno if it was a legal allegation, but the spirit, movement, and rhythm of the chord change is the same.
And yes, that is the correct pop-up player link, Ike.
Avatar 12:16pm fleep:

Hotcha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm mise en place:

danke, Ike! now tuned in
Avatar 12:19pm Carmichael:

Mise, it's over here.

  12:20pm Mr James P Coyle:

Greetings from beautiful Woodside. Negahantz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm pacific standard simon:

But then, people said the same thing about "More Than A Feeling" and "Louie Louie", so there you go -- 2 degrees of separation between "Teen Spirit" and "Louie Louie".
Avatar 12:20pm still b/p:

I was soon tired of the standard grinding repetition, but for some reason I remember where I was when I heard the Boston debut single on WBCN: driving outside Boston off Route 128 on Route 138 in Milton on a spring day. Funny how an undramatic tick sticks here and there.
Avatar 12:21pm northguineahills:

Ah shucks, I missed Philistines Jr., I knew those kids back in the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm mise en place:

@Carmichael - everything under "live audio streams" brings you to the Main FMU stream....am I looking in the right place?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm mise en place:

(and the "click HERE to listen LIVE during this show" is no good for me.
Avatar 12:25pm Carmichael:

@mise: you are correct, that only works for iTunes.

Ike, how did you find that link?
  12:26pm Tower:

Hello all. I finally got a chance to listen today.
Avatar 12:27pm ndbob:

Greetings Tower Todd!
  12:27pm gary mitchell:

this is why I love BDN and GTDS
Avatar 12:27pm Michael:

Lovely Igor Charlie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Ike:

Carm, I think Doug mentioned that GtDR Web player once (and no, it's not listed to the left). At some point, the GtD playlist templates will apparently include it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Charlie:

Hiya Mise en Place, NGH, still b/p, Tower, Gary!
...and Mr. Coyle;)
Avatar 12:31pm ndbob:

Heya Gary!
  12:31pm Mr James P Coyle:

Is this phase 2 of L'Histoire Du Soldat?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Jeff Golick:

FWIW, I think Doug has made a (recent) point of including the flash player link is his pre-show email announcements. AND I PRESUME WE'RE ALL GETTING THOSE?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Ike:

But, Carm, to be pedantic, the "click here to listen LIVE" link for GtDR is not just for iTunes. (Yuck! PC version is such a swollen, clumsy resource hog, WHY so popular? UGGH.) It also works in Winamp, VLC, and the tiny, versatile Foobar. No need to crash your PC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Charlie:

I've been including the link in my e-mails as well, Jeff.
  12:36pm Tower:

Love the Reuben and the Jets reference Mr. James.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Doug Schulkind:

Kenzo is at work right now on an update to the basic playlist page. All the streaming shows will have links to only their stream for listening. The page will also automatically generate a listen link to the pop-up player.

What's more, the pop-up player is getting an update, too. The player for the Drummer Stream will be so identified (and not just say "WFMU" and it will also show the artist/song info, just like iTunes, Winamp and the mobile apps!

These improvements are just around the corner.
  12:38pm Mr James P Coyle:

thank you, Tower
  12:48pm Mr James P Coyle:

would love to hear Like Young
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Brian in UK:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Brian in UK:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm pacific standard simon:

Fascinating cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Parq:

@Doug Drumsum: I don't know about anybody else, but I find the pop-up can be unstable, and has to be restarted frequently. Assuming this is not unique to me, you ought to let Kenzo know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Charlie:

Hi Brian -- Barbara Stanwyck.
Avatar 12:54pm northguineahills:

Charlie, that is Peter & Gordon. I know these boy bands all look the same.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Doug Schulkind:

@Parq
That's curious. I've left the pop-up player on for extended stretches and never had a problem. I will use it more ofter and see what I see.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Brian in UK:

There was a good cover of 'I'll come Running' on Monicas premum last year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Brian in UK:

Doug I'm with you on pop up player.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm pacific standard simon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm mise en place:

I like Sasha Frere Jones' writing, never heard his music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Parq:

Doug, thanks, appreciate your looking into it. Am running Firefox 20.0.1 on a strangely Orwellian work puter running Windows XP Pro 5.1. It may just be the puter, as I haven't tried the GDS pop up at home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Jeff Golick:

Had the pleasure of seeing SFJ's very good college band back in "the day."
Avatar 1:13pm Carmichael:

Windows XP Pro? whoa ....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Charlie:

Hi Brian, I too put a cover of "I'll Come Running" on my 2005 premium, by Chica and the Folder.
