Anyon know where the "In America' radio spot is from?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am
Parq:

Great show so far. Digging the Jordan, and never heard that particular George Jones song before. Number one hits indeed.

Mike East:

daniel johnston sounded great last night on primavera broadcast (imho). his band was tight too
  11:26am
Kathy:

I agree, Daniel Johnston and band were quite enjoyable.
  11:29am
Moammar:

I used to see Daniel Johnston hollering with his guitar on the streets of Austin back when. I thought he was merely that maniac who worked at the McDonald's. Shows what I know.
  11:31am
Nanker:

Wonderful music, as usual!

All anyone needs to know about the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame is this:
James Taylor is in it; Link Wray isn't.

Mike East:

I always thought the solo was jacked from Take Five
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am
Parq:

You're right, that was really cool.
  11:43am
Peter:

Great lyrics if you're a sophomore/junior in high school. Which is where the Doors peak demographic is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am
Parq:

Missed most of yesterday, didn't join the audience until Johnston. Let's hear it for the 'chives.
Avatar 11:44am
Juke Joint Jonny:

Now this is a good lyric. You get it in four syllables and no funeral pyres.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am
Andrew Waterloo:

That Ray Manzarek recording would be so much better if he wasn't such a hero worshipping bootlicker.
Avatar 11:47am
Juke Joint Jonny:

And the Doors would be better without the poet/shaman. And a bass player.
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2024 Swag For Life Member 11:48am
Mike East:

off to the grocery store...catch ya in the car!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am
Andrew Waterloo:

I think Morrison delivered a few decent pop songs.
Avatar 12:00pm
Juke Joint Jonny:

Andrew Waterloo: Agree, just saying uncritically taking Morrison's word for it that he's a poet is the road to a lot of pretentious tripe, and you end up like Ray Manzarek, sounding dumber than you clearly are (as you pointed out.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm
Parq:

Clearly there is no one here from Long Island. I am not even going to bother bringing up the Allman Brothers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm
Andrew Waterloo:

@JJJ Fully agree.
  12:12pm
Moammar:

O.V.! One of my happiest moving days was discovering that the youngish trucking crew from Charlotte had all somehow turned into OV Wright freaks and knew all his stuff. We dug out my stereo and it turned an ordeal into something better than tolerable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Andrew Waterloo:

@Parq I'm sure we could all name a few.
  12:16pm
CW:

Nice, I used to love that O.V. Wright track and played it to near death like 10 years ago!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
Brian in UK:

@Moammar my ears did a double take when Overton Vertis hit the airwaves. Thanks Mr Shelley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm
Parq:

Anybody old enough to remember when that Shakers song was the theme song for a television show in which off-Broadway hippies re-enacted folk tales?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
davex:

What television spectacle was that, Parq? I suppose it may be a handful of years before my (TV prime) time.
  12:33pm
Dennis Diken:

swell show Mikey!
  12:35pm
Queens L. Bow:

Yes! It was Story Theatre...maybe it was on PBS? Definitely remember that as the theme song, didn't realize until later it was Stones song.
