The playing part is fine, but any time there is a longueur (of which there are many maybe 200 over about as many minutes) they turn on music so loud you and the person a foot from you in the next seat have to yell to talk. Are people so inured to their blaring living room TVs that that sound level makes sense to them? Or is it to keep people from being bored by (gods forfend) momentary silence?
	10:17pm Droll: RTD, We already determined, statistically speaking, all the listeners are boomers, based on name. As far as noise goes, I ALWAYS wear ear plugs at live shows. When I see the sound man also wearing them, I complain. I have loudness meter app on my phone, above 95dB is inexcusable. It is not an "age" thing.

	10:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63: - yes - Capricorn correlates to the time after Winter Solstice; climbing out of the darkest time back to the light - & the last Earth element sign - the final practical push of the Cycle (the 'mountaintop')... - 100 decibels is a round number for a reason; earplugs not @ all unreasonable - esp. if exposure will be long & most esp. if regular & repeated - I like loud music & stuff - but obviously not conducive to convo. ...maybe why I like typing like this!...

	10:23pm Dave P. 90: @Droll: Is that an Android App? I'd love that. Never a fan of screeching subway brakes either, I think they can peak at over 95db, and with ear-stabbing high frequencies. My grandfather owned a Jazz club, and by his mid-60's he was going deaf. We would visit him for Sunday dinner and I would have to shout in his ear as if we were in a loud bar.
	♥ 10:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid: For me "relative youngster" means 45 this august. But the losing-the-voice thing doesn't even require club-volume music: just talking loud for a while does it. And earplugs, absolutely. Shows are still crucial to this bitchy old fart.

	10:31pm Droll: I have tinitus from years of playing in loud rock music bands. I'm keeping what I have left! There are dozens of free apps the measure sound pressure. Complaining is far more effective when you stand there with a measurement of sustained volume louder than a jet airplane. There's a bizarre and unintentional connection between powerful modern speakers and the powerful tiny magnets used in disk drives. That trend has roughly peaked, no pun intended.
	10:32pm Dave P. 90: I remember my most ridiculously loud concert: Oasis at Roseland Ballroom 1996. Really, really, unforgivably loud. Like sheer volume was a substitute for talent or somethin'.

The playing part is fine, but any time there is a longueur (of which there are many maybe 200 over about as many minutes) they turn on music so loud you and the person a foot from you in the next seat have to yell to talk. Are people so inured to their blaring living room TVs that that sound level makes sense to them? Or is it to keep people from being bored by (gods forfend) momentary silence?

When I see the sound man also wearing them, I complain. I have loudness meter app on my phone, above 95dB is inexcusable. It is not an "age" thing.

My grandfather owned a Jazz club, and by his mid-60's he was going deaf. We would visit him for Sunday dinner and I would have to shout in his ear as if we were in a loud bar.

Complaining is far more effective when you stand there with a measurement of sustained volume louder than a jet airplane. There's a bizarre and unintentional connection between powerful modern speakers and the powerful tiny magnets used in disk drives. That trend has roughly peaked, no pun intended.
