- yes - atmospheric set flowing together notably well
- & in that hour something other than 'acoustic folk' perhaps (?) reflexively expected...

Mike East:

Hey Jeffrey. My copy of "Behold the Spirit" by William Tyler arrived in the mail this week. Thanks so much for turning me on to him.
Good morning FMU'ers

- *nice* Django selection...
Avatar 7:30am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...reminded of the story (?) - Segovia was listening to Django & demanded score of what he'd just played - & Django told him it was improvised...

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...The Real Stuff...you hear things like this Lemuel Turner - & you always wonder - what guitars were available to him? Where did he get strings & how impossibly thick might they have been? (Someone somewhere knows these things.) What music & self-expression would I be able to coax out of the same set-up??...

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...on a track like this maybe Steve Earle asserting Townes VanZandt writes better than Dylan seems not so crazy - whew...

Jack:

Lead Belly would use old piano strings on his guitar. Big thick wire piano strings. Mostly old stringed instruments used gut.
Avatar 8:05am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- & yet, Leadbelly's known as a 12String player
- I guess people like him lived thru a lot of changes in the 20thCentury! (Imagine plucking & fingering 12 strings of piano wire...)
- Segovia's followers reportedly breathed a big sigh of relief when he okayed nylon strings as acceptable as well as gut...

Mike East:

imagine tuning it!
Avatar 8:11am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

12String doubles yer tuning chores of course
- thicker string might break less
- & stays in tune longer & has bigger tone
- & warps guitars...
...I likes Jackson B. so much better w/out the - um? - too-smooth "70's" style production...
Avatar 8:19am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- altho' Jackson Produced some WarrenZevon I like just fine (maybe Zevon need 'smoothing') : ) ...
Avatar 8:32am

- gotta get ready for subsistence employment
...Show's been most excellent if I don't get back here! (still Listening while can)...
