Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

I taped a lengthy interview with this next gentleman near Madison Square Garden and then, as sometimes happens, I realized that the 'pause' button had been engaged and the whole interview hadn't been recorded at all. Very frustrating. I ran back to the man and apologized and he was gracious enough to do it again. That always makes things difficult because it's hard to ask the same questions again without it feeling canned, and it's harder still to come up with new questions.

except for me and my monkey
Avatar 6:06pm
Carmichael:

Everyone has something, Mike. That's why I don't trust people who don't drink or take drugs. They have some real HEAVY skeletons in their closet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm
davex:

Is that really true, Clay? Do you never interview anyone who knows who you are?
Avatar 6:07pm
the glowing one:

you mean because they fear the skeletons might come out when they are under the influence?
Avatar 6:08pm
Clay Pigeon:

Once in a blue moon, davex.
Avatar 6:09pm
Carmichael:

Maybe, glowing. Everyone has to get off on something; if it's not booze or drugs, it could be licking stamps, barking at cars, or playing guitar. Or something much much darker .....
Avatar 6:12pm
sFrances from VA:

AWESOME. (sorry, really loving this musical interlude. Helen...)

From the composer of 'Dirty Clown' and 'Head-on Hayride' comes a rock opera so stirring it will have you ranging from emotion to emotion. Introducing "Cemetary Wind'. Now Playing!

sFrances from VA:

I confess. I saw Rod on the D'Ya Think I'm Sexy tour. I regretted being too young for earlier tours/or the Faces but....
Avatar 6:17pm
Clay Pigeon:

Had to go there, Cecile. I bet Rod wanted to show he could go toe-to-toe with Paul Rodgers vocally.
Avatar 6:19pm
Cecile:

Clay, I think he's a better singer than Rodgers, but his taste in material stinks. It's worse than Rodgers! And that's saying something.
Avatar 6:20pm
Carmichael:

"Jazz cigarette" ... That's great, Francis, haven't heard that phrase in years. My Dad told me jazz musicians all smoke "reefer".

I love Emmit.

You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and I won't have it! Is that clear?

Mr. Pigeon, would Crisco let you hurt your arteries?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm
dale:

i always wonder what clay's neighbors think when they hear him recording these things in the apt. at three in the morning
  6:37pm
Robert:

Actually in retrospect, Crisco probably isn't very atherogenic. Can't say the same of Drano.
  6:38pm
Night Al:

Are you interviewing Jose Jimenez?
Avatar 6:40pm
Cecile:

he sounds like a lovely, interesting person.
Avatar 6:40pm
Clay Pigeon:

He was, Cecile.
  6:41pm
Night Al:

I liked Anthony Newly's rendition of Send In The Clowns back on 60's TV.
  6:42pm
Robert:

What I don't know is where Mr. Pigeon's "Yes!" comes from. I don't recall it from the Drano ads, but may have been from the same voice artist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
dale:

i hate to admit that i used to be too quick to judge people. i stop and talk now and people's lives are always so much more complex and interesting than i ever could have thought. just because someone looks or seems poor doesn't make them uneducated or intelligent
Avatar 6:44pm
Clay Pigeon:

Adventures in Outer Space, Robert. An obscure sci-fi record from '58. The 'No' is from a Planet of the Apes LP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm
davex:

Interesting variety of interviews as always, Clay...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm
dale:

is that adventures in outer space a stereo demonstartion record? i think i have that
  6:46pm
Robert:

Ack! I should've known better than to come into your house to contend, Mr. Pigeon. You don't suppose the Drano folks were sampling, do you?
