one of these days can we listen to all of Rock Music Report?
Avatar 12:06pm Joe B:

Hi Mike, sure, but that is the most entertaining part! hosted by Don K Reed formerly of CBS fm!
Avatar 12:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...seems like a lotta Disco on FMU lately
...yer not gonna play all Disco are ya Joe?? :p ...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:09pm ChrisB.:

Here's a quarter. Go play the jukebox.
Avatar 12:09pm Joe B:

nuthin wrong with disco
Avatar 12:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...except it went on uninterrupted nonstop for eight years...anyroad...
Avatar 12:11pm KP:

Disco here. Disco over there.
Avatar 12:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& lessee - dis goes right here - ah! - big speakers plugged in...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Mike East:

dis goes good with a beer...gotta enjoy my last day of vacay. Really rockin' opening set, JoeB.!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:25pm efd:

damn, I was hoping Todd-O-Phonic Todd would be on Chris T's show tonight instead of that Abramson guy.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:28pm efd:

I think there was also still the hope that Maxwell's might be a cool place for shows when it went through that transition the last time (little did we know!). Now it's much more final, obviously.
Avatar 12:28pm KP:

sure this is not the Moving Sidewalks?
Avatar 12:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...banging head to Monkeesong...
Avatar 12:31pm MenfussMike:

dang
  12:32pm Lou:

let's active...nice call!
Avatar 🎸 12:33pm David Shortell:

My sole visit to Maxwell's during its notorious 1997 transition was to see the Lyres. The club misspelled their name in the adverts.
Avatar 12:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- 'apparent suicide' - as if this being 30 years old wasn't traumatic enuff...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Mike Sin:

Got it crankin', Joe, as I finish workin' and start packing my bag to see the seashells by the seashore
Avatar 12:36pm Joe B:

Ha! Hey Mike, what a coincidence, had you cued up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Mike East:

I was gonna go down the shore today, but forecasts are calling for rain. Instead, I think I'm gonna bring my daughter to the pool. I really gotta get down to see the ocean soon, though.
Avatar 🎸 12:38pm David Shortell:

Sorry to hear about Faye. Let's Active headlined one of the first all-ages shows I saw at City Gardens (T.S.O.L. opened!). I continue to see the drummer Sara in the Dex Romweber Duo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Mike East:

Ah, Mike Sin is in the Split Signals...I never put that together. I've really been digging all that Joe B and the other "rock jocks" have been playing recently. Way to be awesome, Mike Sin!
Avatar 12:42pm Joe B:

anybody recall Faye Hunter's post Let's Active band? Pink something? I can picture the Cd cover but can't think of the name
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Mike Sin:

re: Maxwells in '96, '97
When Steve Fallon first sold to Bill Sutton, Todd A was still on board doing the booking. The transfer to te brew pub was more of a slow descent than a "final moment," as it were.

IIRC, Todd A finally left then a drummer from some commercial metal band (Skid Row?) took over the booking for a while. I think that's when the club really hit the skids (pun intended) before it finally hit a brick wall and Todd and co. took it over.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:48pm efd:

Joe, I don't think Faye was in any other bands permanently after Let's Active. Maybe you're thinking of Snatches of Pink with Sara Romweber?
  12:50pm laura spike:

This comments board is very educational today.
Avatar 12:52pm Joe B:

EFD, that's it! thanks!
Avatar 12:54pm Listener 108581:

Sara Romweber is a great drummer.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Mike Sin:

Re: Joe's live sessions
It's "The Knot" that usually makes it all come together.
Avatar 1:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

  1:13pm wild Neil:

THANK YOU!!! i have loved Neil Young since the 70's...when I was 11 or 12 camping at a CYO camp as a Boy Scout......
Avatar 1:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- & Squires underscores how important & influential Surf guitarists were too - even tho' I hear very little of that! - much as I worship the Brit-arists (like everyone)...
Avatar 1:27pm KP:

Rayon Beach impresses.
  1:29pm wild Neil:

Avatar 1:38pm KP:

This reminds that i saw the Beatles' show "Let It Be" last night. Did not expect much but was pleasantly surprised. The Lennon guy was awesome, has played him in movies and on stage in UK.
Avatar 1:39pm Listener 108581:

Avatar 1:40pm Joe B:

Avatar 1:43pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:04pm tim from champaign:

That's a deep reference RRN. I had to look it up. We'll see if it does. I'm currently schlubbing it up in gym shorts and a WFMU t-shirt. I might just yet get sent to the principal's office for the plaid pants.
Avatar 2:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I know it (>Do it Better) as a Knickerbockers song...sorry tim! I work @ a thrift store - so there's some kinda trousers...prob. never happen again! Better shorts in July than Dec.!...
