Morning JD, Hello All TimeZones - !
- the best beginning to a Good Saturday...
  6:23am
Mark:

Well, this is nice. I've never heard of Johnny Flynn and Laura Marling. Good crack-of-dawn Saturday morning music. (Some people might be just getting home.)

...this Liz Durrett: sparse arrangement & powerful emoting & singing - I wonder if it's generally appreciated how impressive to pull off this is?
- One thing about 'Folk': I've always thot of a single performer like this as a single candle in darkness: perhaps 'small' wattage, but very intense & focused in its' own manner...

Mark:

Like that you're digging up these obscure YouTube videos, too. CDs are so 90s! I agree, RR--it's very naked to stand up there with just an acoustic guitar. There's nowhere to hide!

- yes - that's part of it!

...on this subject - I always think of (& bring up) GeorgeHarrison in Beatles' Anthology saying in postwar Liverpool you couldn't get a cup of sugar, much less a rock'n'roll record - & now I feel it's like a gushing firehose of music sources I can't control!...

- I also love the story in 'NoDirectionHome' doc how Dylan stole this guy's records of Guthrie & such because they were so rare then & in the MidWest...

...D.C. is pretty important in the Punk & StonerMetal genres...
...no one else but FMU is gonna bring me stuff like Live C.F.D. w/ Interview - KCRW has MorningBecomesEclectic, & local NPR has FolkShows
- but FMU is wayy out ahead.
- So Grateful.

D.C. Music wiki :
en.wikipedia.org...
- no mention of StonerMetal (wiki good but not complete)...HenryRollins is from there & on his KCRW program he had a show not long ago about the D.C. scene
- but all that's not so relevant here anyhoo!
...D.C.'s geographical placement is said to be relevant - a meeting of North & South, Urban & also virtually Virginia, &tc.
- I love in these Interviews being exposed to Artists' personalities, & insights into the CreativeProcess.
...She sounds like she has an accent like English is her second language! : ) ...
