I have found that with headphones, like wine, once you spend more to get the best you can, you cannot go back.

At home, it's an old pair of AKG K-240s, the ones you see in every rock documentary that's shot in the 70s - 80s. With the funky holes in the strap, like they don't make them anymore.

There is the theory that all memories are permanent somewhere inside the brain (or is it Mind?); consider 'memory trips' on psychedelic drugs...

Rich in Washington:

@Bliss: I am even cheaper than that. I bought mine at B&H for less than 50 bucks. I go to their 'used' dept. and when they show up, I buy 'em.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Rich in Washington:

Yes, probably thinking about those 700 dollar headphones. Are any headphones worth 700 dollars?
Avatar 2:42pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...seems to me Sonys short out quickly (...maybe my experience is only w/ cheap ones). Would it be so hard to reinforce the cord near the plug & into the earcup ? I only have Bose because they came into the thriftstore I work @, & the older ladies who sort the donations threw them into the dumpster!; presumably because of a bias against electronics (can be a liability in second-hand stores) - & maybe because didn't realize they are noise-canceling & need a battery...
Avatar 2:43pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

MDR-7506, though a supposed successor to the V6, sound quite different. I like the V6!
Avatar 2:44pm

I have had my Sonys for about 13 years.
I did reinforce the plug years ago, but not the connection into the earbud.

Sony seems to make really cheap consumer stuff and then pretty good, durable pro and 'prosumer' items. I got turned onto the V-6s via the radio station I DJ at. They use them almost exclusively. They can be rebuilt and are nearly DJ proof.
