Thanks for the pass on the French Looms! Exotic. yup, that's the ticket!
Avatar 4:09am
Andy in Berlin:

Love Sonny Sharrock. I first heard him on a Pharaoh Sanders record, Tauhid where after the then pre-requisite period of random honking after the theme had been stated, SS comes in off the beat, in a different key and different time signature and then they start chanting this little melody. Great!
Avatar 4:12am
Bill Mac:

I know he was on another one with Pharoah called Ask the Ages that I need to revisit. I remember his playing as being very understated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12am
Stanley:

Hi Bill and everyone. Up late with a cold. Bah!
What have I missed.... Mustaphas, Gong, Ween. Double bah!
Avatar 4:15am
Andy in Berlin:

@Bill - this one was Tauhid, the tune is Upper And Lower Egypt. Lower Egypt is where Sonny comes in.
Avatar 4:17am
Bill Mac:

Hey Stanley, yeah, been playing a few faves today. Take care of that cold!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39am

Contrary to popular belief, dressing up in womens' clothes has never appealed to me.

Old joke repeated.
'Is anything worn under the kilt?'
'No, it's all in perfect working order'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42am
Stanley:

@Bill - is he in some reggae or ska band? Trombone goes down well there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49am

I was always in the 'some kinda mug line'.

Mugs unite!
Avatar 4:49am
Mike from MPLS:

Is he in a city or rural midwest?
Avatar 4:51am
Bill Mac:

An hour out of Chi Town - jeez I'm making it sound like he's living in a vacuum... this is why I shouldn't opine at 430 in the morning - might as well go drive drunk while I'm at it.
Avatar 4:53am

In the information age culture is more accessible, but it takes effort if you're not immersed in it.

Hiya, Bill and all Mac-cronys. Along for the this last hour.
Avatar 5:03am
Bill Mac:

Yup, and he's immersed in different things than I am. To be honest with you, he's tapped into this place. He likes Bill Kellys show. I wasn't nearly as cool as that when I was his age.
Avatar 5:07am
Mike from MPLS:

I grew up in rural North Dakota. It still feels like I'm trying to catch up from a cultural disadvantage.

Nice to hear a new Steinski creation. The man's cool.

Hey MGB, many of my previous playlist are also good for a chuckle. Music's not bad either.

@Stanley - Again, someone else that needs listening to. I like the mix of beats, smarts and humor.

For those who didn't understand, the B Fontaine song began like this: "I dislike brain splattered on windshields during the summer". She's so sweet...
Avatar 5:22am
Bill Mac:

She never sounded as dark as her songs are - not until later anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24am
Stanley:

@Bill - the archives are crammed full of amazing Steinski recordings, just that they are nearly 20 years old. I did hear mention that he turned up at the Record Fair. So he's still around.
Avatar 5:27am
Bill Mac:

He was part of the staff at one time wasn't he?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28am

Don't know, Bill. But if you're listening Steinski, do say hello.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31am

Did you get Steinski's premium the other year? It is good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33am

Hey Bill, Mose's daughter Amy is good too. Recorded as album in East Kilbride.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34am
