Having said that - the idea that you can fiddle w/ the pickup settings on a Strat & make it a Tele is probably not completely true. (...I'm frankly listening to News but reading here - so if my participation is lop-sided I apologize...)

Listening to 'Well Respected Kinks' album lately - & the tones pretty unique - & killin' awlright...But the mikes, tubes, board - amps - none of that is what it was 50 years ago...

Those trees are gone.

I tuned in to some of his early shows -- the interview of Bruce Campbell especially -- but didn't care for what the show soon turned into. Monica I'll miss; Scharpling, not especially.
	6:49pm LovecraftDude888: There's a bunch of boutique companies making all kinds of pedals, fuzz, whatever, and still have Electro Harmonix, and companies like that. It's a matter of what you need and what you can afford. Meanwhile i bought a new Fender Mustang I amp and a real Tubescreamer pedal 2 months ago and cannot even use it at new apt., cause of the noise situation. Which is radically sucking. I got an Ibanez TS7 TS pedal with the boost switch was was great. and got it cheap online too. But there's all kinds of pedals and you gotta go play and listen carefully!! In the shop!!

Gotta move that up the list.

	6:56pm LovecraftDude888: the BOSS fuzz pedal gets high marks generally, I"m seeing. I found I could get some natural fuzz grunge out of some small Vox amps even the Pathfinder...but that amp had not a lot of power.

I just like to keep my eye out on craigslist for anything that's stupidly cheap and try out different combinations. Found boost/fuzz one built by this CopilotFX guy in the Dominican for maybe $40 CDN and I'll love it forever.

	6:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63: - in the 'Nugget's sorta Garage Rock - it's like the Fuzz actually cut the Sustain - like an angry snotty mosquito - by the time you got this Iron Butterfly post-Hendrix - we're on our way to Metal & things...
	6:58pm Lumpy: You can Google what equipment was used on what records, a lot of this info has been documented. Look into these fuzz variants (now made by various manufacurers): Fuzzrite, Tonebender, Shin Ei Companion, Maestro something-or-other, Superfuzz. I believe the Fuzzrite was used by Iron Butterfly. Understand that everything in your signal chain makes a difference - amp, guitar, pickups, strings, even your playing style. And when you're listening to a record, you're hearing a vintage recording process and then listening back on vinyl. It all makes a difference. Try Youtube as suggested, Google, and maybe think about building your own pedals with kits from General Guitar Gadgets and Build Your Own Clone (dot com)

	♥ 7:00pm Guido (Cologne): Link Wray did als slit his speakers. In Ike Turners band when they did the famous Rocket 88 ... was it a broken amp or damaged speaker membrane? The Broques on the flipside of "Miacle Worker", that was also a broken amp. They never could get that sound after the recording.

Great! But now I can't make noise here...grrrrrrr shit sucks hardcore

	7:07pm LovecraftDude888: nevermind, was gonna say the Vox modeling ones are quite good, if you're into modeling amps, the Vox ToneLab series....some of the best modeling combos. Otherwise you're talking what, $850 for a Vox AC30 or a real tube amp or the Marshall Bluesbreaker amps..the prices are absurd.

A lot of people buy the wrong gear not realizing you are not getting a metal sound really out of a TScreamer....all ODs are not equal. Gotta really play things and try them out. And the modeling boxes like BOSS are cool but all solid state...I mean, if you want real analog you gotta buy real analog

	6:56pm LovecraftDude888: the BOSS fuzz pedal gets high marks generally, I"m seeing. I found I could get some natural fuzz grunge out of some small Vox amps even the Pathfinder...but that amp had not a lot of power.

I just like to keep my eye out on craigslist for anything that's stupidly cheap and try out different combinations. Found boost/fuzz one built by this CopilotFX guy in the Dominican for maybe $40 CDN and I'll love it forever.

	6:58pm Lumpy: You can Google what equipment was used on what records, a lot of this info has been documented. Look into these fuzz variants (now made by various manufacurers): Fuzzrite, Tonebender, Shin Ei Companion, Maestro something-or-other, Superfuzz. I believe the Fuzzrite was used by Iron Butterfly. Understand that everything in your signal chain makes a difference - amp, guitar, pickups, strings, even your playing style. And when you're listening to a record, you're hearing a vintage recording process and then listening back on vinyl. It all makes a difference. Try Youtube as suggested, Google, and maybe think about building your own pedals with kits from General Guitar Gadgets and Build Your Own Clone (dot com)

The Broques on the flipside of "Miacle Worker", that was also a broken amp. They never could get that sound after the recording.

Otherwise you're talking what, $850 for a Vox AC30 or a real tube amp or the Marshall Bluesbreaker amps..the prices are absurd.

	7:15pm LovecraftDude888: Yeah BOSS makes 10 different heavy uber metal pedals, the MetalZone one is apparently quite good, or the DeathMetal one. A lot of people buy the wrong gear not realizing you are not getting a metal sound really out of a TScreamer....all ODs are not equal. Gotta really play things and try them out. And the modeling boxes like BOSS are cool but all solid state...I mean, if you want real analog you gotta buy real analog
