"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Really liked that Tom Hamilton track earlier, so I looked it up. Turns out I already have the album in my collection. Is this indicative of a greater problem? Should I seek help?

@Sem: The trouble is, when I look something up and *don't* have it, the dragons come and eat my wallet.

Rascals' NY Deli on Kenwood Rd in Blue Ash, Ohio. I learned a bit more about WHY so many people can't get knish right now. There is actually a national knish shortage. news.yahoo.com...

Rascals' makes their own

LovecraftDude888:

I know, I'd read that a month ago or so...was like a knish shortage? I just hope there's no Peet's coffee shortage hehe or ending up costing $25 an ounce or whatever.

LovecraftDude888:

was reading about that place down in E. Village or Bowery the famous knish place....forget the name..but it's like an orig. hardcore knish palace on Delancey or Houston or whatever. Gotta go there at some point soon next NYC trip if possible.

LD888: I am in Lebanon, town over from Dartmouth U on the western border w/ Vermont - sorta midway up the (little) state; Nashua is east a bit & @ the bottom just over from Mass. ...
Avatar 8:53am
John Allen:

yeah, let's stay with this knish thing for awhile
  8:54am
LovecraftDude888:

I see it...that place in Ohio gets pretty high marks the NY style deli, etc. Someone said it's pricey but good, generally good reviews. Right Nashua NH more southeast in state....gotcha. I was up there a number of years back briefly...a Lovecraftian trip we hit up that megalith site somewhere in Vermont or NH supposed to be an ancient ritual stone maybe...or something

actually an old college pal of mine told me recently he'd moved from Queens to Nashua NH recently...he said it was keen so far. I wish we had Newbury Comics down here in NY....man!
Avatar 8:57am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yes - Horror Writers come from New England or move here. NYC wanting some Culture we got up here - that's novel...
  8:57am
LovecraftDude888:

don't most of the supermarkets around the country have fresh or frozen knishes these days? Some of them from NYC...but I dunno how great they are. Not as good as from a real deli, etc. Fairway or Trader Joe's should have that stuff
  8:59am
LovecraftDude888:

well I know from experience New England is a hotbed and Horror Fantasy destination...for all kinds of reasons. Esp. King Lovecraft and Hawthorne and etc. etc. I was up in Maine in 1986 in Rockland...my dad grew up there for a while. Nice area. That was the very week IT was published the King novel, so was reading it in Maine which was keen!

On the local (Ny/NJ) knish front, the shortage caused by the fire at Gabila's knish factory in September has all but ended...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59am

My own experience says to go with the real deal. Nothing beats a fresh knish
  9:00am
LovecraftDude888:

you lucky bugger! That's insane! I knew a lot of people in Providence and still do, and around New England...I was friendly with the folks some of them, at Brown's John Hay library but sadly John Stanley I think passed on a few years back..he ran the place and HPL collections and stuff Providence is the bomb!
