@Rev: thanks for knowing....you don't miss a trick. Jimi's Mashalls had JBL's and EV speakers, "cleaner" than Celestions, but even more importantly, they were fitted with 6550 tubes, completely different from the EL-34"s that give Marshal's their "Marshally" sound. They're actually more like supercharged Fender-style tubes, so his amps weren't characteristically "Marshalls" at all. Just explaining this to someone the other day, an experienced player, it's amazing how many of them still think "69 Plexi Marshall = Hendrix tone".....

P-90:

I used to have a "pseudo-lefty" or "reversed-righty" Strat-style guitar, it was a regular right-handed guitar with a reversed headstock, and man, the tension is strikingly different, you don't want to go back to any regular Fender after that. And I put pickups in with a "reverse-staggered polepiece pattern" that mimics a right-handed strat strung backwards for a lefty, like Jimi. That gets you way way close to Hendrix tone. These modifications were to a Roland "synth" Strat-style guitar, so it had the on-board synthesizer and hexaphonic fuzz stuff.....End of story: guitar stolen

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09am

@P90: I gather you're right-handed...being an upside-down lefty, my situation is the opposite, sort of -- for a Strat I need a lefty body strung up righty, like this one:

marmalade kitty:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12am
Fuzzy:

No, I'm watching it...wondering if that's a decent price or not. There's no indication anywhere that it's an actual Fender Strat. Whaddaya think?
  4:15am
P-90:

@MarmKit: These were built in Jim Marshall's shop in London, and the modifications were done by him in stages over time, experimenting and hunting for the best sound, with feedback from Hendrix. Marshall made amps for Townsend, Beck, Page, etc. and all this stuff became the basis of his mass-produced lines of amplifiers.
"Feedback" from Hendrix, get it? "Feedback...." sorry , sleep-deprived..

Those GFS pick-ups are kind of cheap replacements, which is not necessarily bad, but opinion on them is mixed. He says they are "reverse wound" which typically means that the middle pickup in combination with either of the other two, y,know the "2" and "4" positions, will be humbucking and pretty completely noiseless. Unless he means something else...
He say Fender body, I wouldn't doubt that, but he specifies the after-market replacement neck and parts, so it's not even supposed to be a "Fender" guitar at all, rather an improvement

Si, but the design shows that it "tracks" the precession of the sun by turning on two axes? What kind of drive does that use, and how is it properly synched to the sun's path?
Or: do you mean that the ball does a good enough job at catching the sun from a fixed position that it doesn't move? Those two axes of movement allow for adjustment to an optimal fixed position?
