Hi Whoo! Soooo..., is that 12" laquer LP in your pocket, or are you just happy to see (read) me?
Avatar 8:08pm MAC:

I sacrifice my arm for art!
Avatar 8:08pm MAC:

Uhhhmmmmm.... that is I... (gulp)
  8:11pm Phono-90:

@DJ MAC: evening Sir, it's been fascinating already, and you're just getting rollin' in the glomin', I used to know what that is...
  8:11pm AG:

Think Lauder was perhaps saying "ye canna beat it." No matter, loving the show tonight...
  8:13pm mk:

Hi MAC. Whats that old song: "another little drink, another little drink.. won't do us any harm"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm Santos L Halper:

Dig this guy. A regular dancin' fool
  8:18pm Phono-90:

"Period-correct epithets", can't wait for the ribaldry
  8:21pm mk:

  8:23pm mk:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm Santos L Halper:

All us southern states are the same : )
But an Arkansas minstrel and a Louisianan? Night and day
  8:28pm Phono-90:

A lot of this banter is striking for how familiar and UNarchaic it is, to these ears at least...
"Tannhauser"' pronounced like tan-hoi-zer
Avatar 8:30pm MAC:

Anyone remember Bugs Bunny and the opera singer he destroyed... "LEOPOLD!!!"
  8:31pm mk:

It would be interesting to hear what *was censored in those earlier phonographic periods..
  8:32pm Jim Shulman:

Yup, TAHN-Hoyzer for a guide. The records were made in August of 1922, over three discs: Victor 74758, 74759, and 74768 (which were later doubled, with a filler side).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm Santos L Halper:

And to think the DJs back then said the listeners didn't have the patience for a 2-sided single. Interesting arrangement though...
  8:32pm mk:

*material
  8:35pm Phono-90:

I do! All Baby--Boomers and older Gen Xers do...
You ciuld say it was near the too of the "Stowkastic Hit Parade" of fine mid-century classical music satire.........heheh
  8:36pm Phono-90:

...the TOP of the...
Damn!
  8:37pm Jim Shulman:

There are supposed to be three sides to this performance, Victor 74758, 74759, and 74768, recorded in August 1922
  8:40pm Phono-90:

This was before Shield hooked up with Yarnell, right?
Uh-oh, is that THE "Dangerous Dan McGrew" ? Yesss!
  8:45pm Phono-90:

Warblin' as opposed to whistlin'?
  8:47pm mk:

Clifford Grey; another drink..?
  8:54pm Phono-90:

mk: yeah, one imagines Kellogg doing his calls in bars, for drinks...
@ MAC what got me was the sheer quantity of different calls he could do.. You got a good one there yourself, just don't run a-foul of those Disney lawyers, they'll really cook your goose!
.....ok,sorry
  8:55pm Phono-90:

...had a large portion of corn w/dinner
  8:56pm Phono-90:

Avatar 8:57pm MAC:
