Hello DJ Martha. Calling Droll, your prog has arrived.

Martha, my late night muse! Hi, Whooda!

Happy - finally feels like Spring - Martha! & KIddles!

Hi all - thanks for checking in - and yes, it's my monthly infusion of prog...

Earthquake, good long rolling one. 5.3. Fun ride.
  12:14am
JakeGould:

Earthquake?
  12:14am
Martha:

Pretty soon we will have one of weekly infusions of psych...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am
mariano:

The synth solos of all prog songs seem to converge -- not that there's anything wrong with that!

Fleep: where are you with such seismic activity?
  12:15am
JakeGould:

Rush? Hemispheres?
  12:16am
P-90:

Good Morning, Martha, great start!

Circumstances!!! Or Necromancer from Caress of Steel.

@mariano Los Angeles. The window blind cord
is still moving slowly, there have been aftershocks.
Avatar 12:19am
Whooda:

Sounds like someone could use some Progmesyn or Progoprin multisymptom for that prog time of the month.
Avatar 12:21am
Whooda:

@fleep I hope is doesn't get any worse. I was in Sacramento, in a Home Depot when the Northridge quake struck. Lucky for me I was near the door section of the store. They say it's safer to stand in a doorway. Seriously, the hanging lights in the store were swinging all the way up to Sacramento.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am
mariano:

@fleep: yeah, got some good friends in LA. Used to live in SF about 20 years ago, and every time we had a tremor, I never felt it! Never a 5.3 though. I was a kid in Honduras in '76 when the Guatemala earthquake hit, and I slept through that, though my grandpa's entire hifi 70s reel-to-reel two-story stereo temple completely toppled!
Avatar 12:28am
fleep:

@Whooda @mariano We got hit hard during Northridge, the middle of our house bounced up in the air several inches, right off the piers and posts. A long saga of rebuilding and insurance settlements ensued.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30am
mariano:

Really sorry to hear, fleep.
Avatar 12:34am
Whooda:

Nice mixed set of music DJ Martha, much appreciated.
  12:35am
Martha:

Yes, v. sorry to hear about that - hope all is well -

Martha:

Thanks!
Avatar 12:38am

@mariano & Martha Our house was retrofitted with bracing and shear walls, we're the safest house on this block now, our house cannot sway. Blessings in disguise look awful at first.
  12:39am
P-90:

@fleep: how far are you from La Habra? The earthquake.gov website says there was an unusual "pre-quake" of about 3.6 an hour ago, that's about as strong as the aftershock you just had.
I remember the morning the Whittier quake hit in 1987, the biggest the really big one in '71, I was in Beverly Hills, quite a few miles from Whittier, but the whole house was rocking, it had that same "rolling" motion you describe, like a train car rocking, not the usual "jigglier" kind
  12:39am
JakeGould:

“…our house cannot sway.” But your house now ROCKS! Right? Sorry, gotta go with the flow.
Avatar 12:40am
Whooda:

@fleep I seriously considered bracing my house at the foundation in North Carolina, not exactly a hotbed of earthquakes, more for tornadoes really. I was wondering if you had braced your home. Good idea.
Avatar 12:41am
Droll:

Having been through the 2001 Nisqually earthquake, I know how scary earthquakes can be, but insurance is a lesser of the possible woes.

We just had a mountainside slide away into nothing up here. Natural disasters (ie: floods in Jersey City) are everywhere nowadays.
  12:42am
P-90:

correction: the Whittier was the biggest SINCE the 1971 quake (that almost killed Johnny Carson, among others)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am
mariano:

Hey y'all, let's drink! Got 3 ciders left, and perhaps a goodly amount of Mendocino's finest!
Avatar 12:44am
Whooda:

@droll I was wondering about you and PSS regarding the mudslide. It's big national news, it's a Godsend for the national news outlets that prefer avoiding other topics. I don't know how many times I seen that muddy Barbie Jeep in the last week.
  12:45am
P-90:

I do believe I have some Yeungling Black & Tan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am
mariano:

Well then, cheers, sir or madam!
Avatar 12:47am
Whooda:

@Mariano I've decided to buy a tank of Co2 and a regulator to make my own carbonated beverages. Will be able to make 'champagne' with cheap white wine too! A liter of soda water will cost only pennies per liter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am
mariano:

Good idea, Whooda! A friend of mine has a carbonator for her seltzer, and here in Brooklyn there are still a couple of seltzer trucks that make the rounds for the High Holidays. But making your own champagne: that's novel! That's some Capone sh*t!
Avatar 12:51am
Droll:

Whooda, It's a very photogenic natural disaster so they're getting good milage from it. Regardless, it's a pretty grim situation.

P-90, I loved Yeungling B&T! Alas, east coast only...
Avatar 12:56am
fleep:

@P-90 maybe 40 miles.
@Droll A few broken beer bottles and swinging lamps can't compare to that mountain giving way. No reports of any injuries here, one broken water main in La Habra. Eh.
  12:56am
JakeGould:

Whooda, you would be making faux sparkling wine since (a) you do not live in Champagne & (b) the bubbles should come from fermentation. Signed, Snit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am
mariano:

DIY black and tans!

Ken From Hyde Park:

A few years ago, some California people were visiting my work site. In the 2nd floor warehouse, a forklift truck rumbled by, shaking the floor a little. The visitors looked scared for a moment, scanning for the exits, I imagine. When we pointed out the forklift, they were highly relieved.
Avatar 1:00am
Whooda:

@Jake my black market 'champagne' customers in the trailer park will never know the difference. The hard part is trying to describe to them what 'champagne' is. I think I'll call it Champain.

Who the hell are Sleaford Mods?

Amazing noises.
  1:18am
JakeGould:

Fleep, that’s me burping from your bogus sparkling muscatel.
  1:19am
JakeGould:

Sorry, I meant to blame Whooda. I think this stuff has paint thinner in it.
Avatar 1:23am
Whooda:

Not paint thinner because it leaves an oily aftertaste. It's acetone. Acetone delivers a nice brisk bite with volatile bouquet and quite a nice high. Plus the ladies can use the drink for nail polish remover in a pinch.
  1:26am
Martha:

Yes, Staer is really great, and I think this album is better, less straightforward than their last ("Daughters") -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27am
mariano:

Jävlar means scum, I think. From Lars von Tier's The Kingdon, there was the Swedish doctor who used to stand on the roof of the Danish hospital, looking towards Sweden, yelling "Dansk Jävlar," or Danish scum!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28am
mariano:

Trier, I meant, not Tier.
  1:29am

Ah, thanks!

Was unaware of the 'jam band' side to Cheater Slicks. Pretty damn cool.
  2:04am
Martha:

Yeah - this is a great release - unfortunately, other awesome side can not be played over the air (message brought to you courtesy of the FCC).
Avatar 2:09am
Droll:

Martha, I believe one of the C's in FCC stands for "Courtesy". I can't remember what F stands for.
  2:13am
Martha:

That's a good one - I'll have to remember that -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30am
mariano:

Watching muted footage of Keith Moon drumming over this, from my copy of Kids Are Alright.

@Droll: the other C is Chastity, I'm guessing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am
mariano:

Beautiful, this Guyvessant.
  2:44am
Martha:

Yes, thanks!
  2:47am
KP:

I've been down in dreary Va. all week. This is certainly livening up things
  2:48am
Martha:

Great - glad it is doing some good - where were you? - my sister now lives in Charlottesville so i am down there a good bit -
  2:52am
KP:

South of Alexandria.
Funny you should mention Charlottesville. We were watching the UVA game tonight, they lost a tough one
  2:54am
KP:

But anyway, living in ny, boring is good for change
  2:54am
Martha:

Ouch - my nephew will be unhappy - thanks for the heads up -
Avatar 2:55am

Thanks again for the entertainment DJ Martha. Hope you have a great day today.
  2:57am
KP:

Yes we had planned to come back and see next game live at garden. Not now!
See ya Martha. Sweet stuff
  2:57am
P-90:

Great playlist again tonight, DJ Martha.
Always a pleasure to join you, have a great week!
  2:58am
Martha:

Thanks all for the good words - have a great week -
