Hello Thomas and everyone.
How was your record store day?

Hey! Good morning! The title is in swedish and it says "I thought we had democracy"

Good morning, Thomas Dangerous Storck!
I heard The diamond sea bet Jonathan's and your show..thought it would be starting song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11am
mariano:

@knaster: good to know! What's the band's name mean?
  6:11am
knaster:

Correction! No, it was norwegian, but that's quit the same sometimes :)
Avatar 6:12am
Thomas:

Thanks, knaster - hello everyone. My Record Store Day was great! I stayed in all day and hung out with my cat. So do you guys have RSD in other countries or what?
Avatar 6:12am
Looms:

We have it in France.
  6:16am

hung out with your cat...how cute! What is your cat's name?

Sleaford Mods!!!

Do the Sleaford Mods know they're so popular on FMU?

Good morning Thomas, great start to the show. Guten TZAG everybody!
Avatar 6:21am
Thomas:

welcome, fred! blue, i call her Mabel, among other things
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am
fred:

@Looms: I didn't know that. Then again, without Bimbo Tower I fail to see the point. I'd rather have a good record store than a record store day.
  6:31am
knaster:

@mariano

'Sterke Svakheter' means
'strong weaknesses'.

That's how I feel today. What a party!
Avatar 6:32am
Looms:

@Fred: I agree. RSD isn't very interesting in France in terms of special releases (mainly reissues at very high prices) ; I'm not sure that Bimbo Tower was involved this year. Anyway, my fave store had more stuff available than usual yesterday and I found some nice things at very fair prices.
  6:33am
blue:

now curious about others...lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40am
fred:

@Looms: Bimbo Tower closed its doors last year. For a while they kept selling records twice a month, but I'm not sure that's still happening
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41am
mariano:

Thanks @knaster!
Avatar 6:43am

@Fred: What?! I Thought they were just looking for a new place...

Hello, Thomas and all. Sunday morning=time for purge church. Nice turn-out.
Avatar 6:54am
Thomas:

purge church! hi Sem Chumbo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55am
fred:

@Looms: Well, I haven't talked to the owner about this, but I guess opening a record store that can pay its way is a challenge. It might happen, but it doesn't look like it's anytime soon. To my utter dismay, as this was a fantastic place
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56am
mariano:

Hi Sem -- enjoy the ribs?
Avatar 6:58am
Looms:

@Fred: it really was and hope it will be again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00am
fred:

@Looms: Did you go see El-G?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03am
fred:

Nico from Les Morts Vont Bien ran for mayor of Amiens last month: partisanscible.blogspot.fr
He got over 2% of the vote, I got a leftover campaign poster
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04am
Sem Chumbo:

@mariano: having a drone fly more in. Thanks again!
Avatar 7:10am
Looms:

Fred, I didn't, it was an overwhelming week at work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10am
fred:

The videos on that campaign site are heavy with puns that will only work with french speakers. The first one is almost silent, and more accessible: youtu.be...
Avatar 7:21am
Looms:

wrong speed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23am
Sem Chumbo:

@fred: hilarious. For decades, the Rhinoceros Party in Canada, and more specifically in La Belle Province, ran such absurdist campaigns as this, with platform planks very much in this mode.
Avatar 7:26am
Thomas:

Looms, right speed! From a cassette
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28am
Sem Chumbo:

I recall one Rhinoceros promise, offering electors as much Labatt's Bleu beer as one could drink everyday, along with a collateral promise to change the provincial motto from "Je Me Souviens" to "Je Me Souviens Pas."
Avatar 7:35am
Looms:

@Fred: how do you translate "tel maire tel fist" ? :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37am
fred:

@Sem: Nico would approve. Absurdist as it was, it did bring people together and helped forge promising links between artists, and also gave them access/insight into political circles that would dismiss them as irrelevant
Avatar 7:37am
Looms:

You made it OK Thomas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am
sinister dexter:

loving the selections , thanks Thomas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am
fred:

@Looms: Nico's puns are hard enough for native speakers, I have no idea how to translate this. I have the same problem with "We must, indeed, all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately", which for some reason sounds more serious. Though I believe Nico and Ben would have been fast friends
  7:50am
blue:

oh, that was scary...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51am
fred:

@Looms: one of the booze-fueled things that came out of my last meeting with Nico was that "16 ans dans le Finistère" might become a project and/or track name. Be forewarned

DFTB listeners! i'm thinking about taking a European vacation in early August. People are telling me to go to Amsterdam, Berlin, Belgium...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06am
fred:

It has been a while since I last could hear this show. I see I've been missing a lot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10am
fred:

@Thomas: these are all sensible choices. DO NOT STOP IN PARIS in August. Just don't. I'd love to get an opportunity to meet you, but it's just not worth your time
Avatar 8:12am
Thomas:

ha, okay thanks for advice fred. what's with Paris in August? Or Paris in general?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16am
fred:

I'd say Paris in general, but I'm biased. Paris in August is dead, it's all about busloads of tourists, and nothing else. Local musicians are touring, and there's just nothing going on in Paris. Steer clear from that wasteland
  8:23am
blue:

@Simon I don't know and I couldn't find about it. but, I read Mt.FUJI inspired him naming himself Yukio. Japanese Wisteria is also called FUJI n Japanese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23am
fred:

I had to clicky-star this show as a whole, it's more than the sum of the tracks you played, the way you put them together is wonderful
Avatar 8:32am
Simon P:

if there's one song a show can revolve around maybe it's that Gezan this time

@Thomas: heard a lot today to explore further thanks to you and Dangerous for the Brain. Also, Paris travel tips from @fred were a bonus. All good! See ya later.
Avatar 8:53am
Looms:

Thomas, I second what Fred said: early august isn't the right time to come to France, especially to big cities: no good concerts, many shops closed for holiday...
Thx for the show.

Great show love the crash course in science track

Thanks everybody, I know a lot of Europe is on holiday around then, right?
