  12:25pm Mark in Toronto:

We're here Joe, and we're listening
  12:27pm Gumby:

Beach Blanket Belock?
  12:32pm Frank Above:

Yeah Joe!
  12:38pm Toddophonic:

Beach Blanket Belock will be July 15th! Beach Blanket Bingo was on where we had dinner Sunday night so I'm getting my game face on early!

  12:51pm Toddophonic:

Thee Oh Sees album came up on the jukebox screen at EJ's in Seaside Heights yesterday as being featured. Same with Screaming Females!
Avatar 12:56pm DeaconDave:

Greetings everyone
Avatar 12:58pm chinaski:

Romweber = futbol
  12:58pm mto:

ITALIA! ITALIA!! ITALIA!!!
  1:00pm Toddophonic:

Maybe in tribute to World Cup the rest of your show should consist of 2 hours of nothing.
Avatar 1:00pm Joe B:

Todd, spot on as always!
Avatar 1:01pm Joe B:

I always had a feeling Thee Oh Sees were big with the biker crowd!
  1:02pm John L.:

You could play a song from "George Best" by the Wedding Present.
Avatar 1:02pm DeaconDave:

Enjoying the selection today
  1:02pm BTH:

Wait, Toddophonic is a baseball fan, and he's complaining about futbol being boring?!?!?
  1:04pm BTH:

How about some Sao Paulo post-punk via As Mercenarias? Their comp on the Soul Jazz label is pretty epic.
  1:04pm John L.:

OR you could play "Getting Nowhere Fast: by Girls At Our Best!, which is covered by the Wedding Present on "George Best."
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:06pm MattBelow:

"Upper quarter of the bottom half...." Fluffy Rain indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Greg from Bloomfield:

"Can I Kick It?" by A Tribe Called Quest? That's all I got.
  1:09pm Figures of Light:

Killer stuff, Joe -- glad to catch your show live for a change!! This set's got a nice summer vibe -- after the winter of our discontent!! Thanks for the sounds!!
  1:12pm KevinWho:

is that Augie Meyers with Ben? Or Gus Cordovox? someone else?
  1:12pm Figures of Light:

Miriam rules!!!
  1:13pm KevinWho:

(answers himself) apparently it's Augie
Avatar 1:14pm Joe B:

good call Kevin! hey Wheeler!
  1:16pm Figures of Light:

Miriam does a great version of the Hollies' So Lonely too -- hint, hint.
  1:20pm Ray:

I'll give u $2 Joe!
  1:20pm jahna:

I want that record! Gimme. :-) If you're really getting rid of it, that is. I will give you TWO bucks!
  1:21pm Figures of Light:

Indeed, Goffin was a giant of pop music -- do the locomotion with me!!
  1:22pm jahna:

Ray beat me to the punch. Ah, well... it was the math problem that slowed me down.
  1:23pm jahna:

...being a drummer, that is... ;-)
  1:25pm Ray:

If u want to get rid of it now, I'll send u the money via snail mail n you can send me the record. Ill pay for postage.
  1:26pm Figures of Light:

Really interesting choices for the Goffin tribute - not what I expected at all, which is what makes it great - some really gorgeous stuff!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Stevel:

Gee, missed the Blind Shake, but since that CD is on steady rotate in my car, I don't feel too bad. Great live band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Mike East:

Hey Joe!
  1:35pm SuW Guru:

the best way to promote monogamy is to always be at your best
  1:37pm John L.:

Nice. I've only heard the Rod Stewart and Beth Orton versions of "It's Not The Spotlight."
  1:38pm SuW Guru:

meaning you'll be focused on perceiving others as you-a-like and tend to try to find a reason of love to build a family and evolve
Avatar 1:39pm Joe B:

ah, forgot about the beth orton version! thanks John!
Avatar 1:39pm drewo:

Thanks for the tribute Joe. I was just reading this bit in the Goffin obit: "In 1963, John Lennon said he and Paul McCartney wished to be “the Goffin-King of England” and used their song “Chains” on one of the Beatles’ early albums."
  1:40pm Figures of Light:

These chains of love got a hold on me!!
  1:42pm Woo:

When I saw KISS in the RRHOF I shook my head once again over the Monkees exclusion
  1:42pm Figures of Light:

This blows my mind -- this guy was all over the place -- always loved this song - the prefab four were definitely underrated -- and all the session musicians they employed -- nice echo, too!!
  1:43pm Bluesman:

Nice JG tribute set!
  1:46pm SuW Guru:

tott for the time you wnat but please keep space for building a family in your life of your own
  1:47pm Figures of Light:

SuW Guru -- enough!! Totally off topic!!
  1:48pm Hackensack Slim:

Sleepy LaBeef gets away with some good medlys as well.
  1:52pm SuW Guru:

toth a new Guru word: roth with the use of teaching
  1:54pm Figures of Light:

The Nox Boys sort of remind of Johnny Thunders' vocal stylings -- so much great stuff out there!!
Avatar 1:54pm Joe B:

yes, good call! looking forward to hearing them live!
Avatar 1:55pm t_J:

Hi Joe, hows every1 doing?
Avatar 1:57pm t_J:

  2:00pm Figures of Light:

Hey Joe -- Michael is listening, too, and says hi!!
  2:01pm Figures of Light:

Bipolaroid??!! Where do you find this stuff -- all so killer!!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Mike Sin:

Been enjoying the show outside in the park. Fun!

FYI -- Yes, Carole King ended up marrying Charles Larkey, the bass player of the Myddle Class, after breaking up with Gerry Goffin.
Avatar 2:03pm Joe B:

cool, hey Michael! Hi TJ!
Avatar 2:03pm Joe B:

Thanks Mike! see you Saturday!
  2:09pm John L.:

The internet is aflutter about a soccer player biting someone. More importantly, it's the birthdays of Arthur Brown, Jeff Beck, Colin Blunstone, Mick Fleetwood and Andy McCluskey.
  2:12pm Figures of Light:

Anyone who says rock & roll is in trouble should listen to this show -- this stuff should be at the top of the charts, not the junk that's there now. Why the heck isn't this mainstream -- are people THAT stupid? Don't answer that.
  2:13pm Figures of Light:

Yes -- remember the important stuff - happy birthday to Arthur Brown, Jeff Beck, Colin Blunstone, Mick Fleetwood and Andy McCluskey. Oh, and is there really someone playing soccer somewhere?
Avatar 2:14pm ottovonbqe:

These songs can go on the charts when I've had a chance to hear katy perry 1 million times.
  2:15pm Figures of Light:

Noooooooooooooooooo!!!
  2:16pm Figures of Light:

The Minus 5 are The Plus Five!!!
  2:18pm John L.:

There is a local station, where I live, that promotes itself as being independent. I listen to it for an hour, or so ,each day and they sure are pushing that new Phish record. Kinda sounds like Ambrosia. They played Four Non Blondes the other day. Oy.
Avatar 2:18pm PKNY:

Woah, the Mobil station in New Paltz sells sushi? When there's a sushi restaurant right across the street from it?
  2:19pm Figures of Light:

Really -- Joe is the best -- to hell with the rest!! Put the guy on coast to coast!!
Avatar 2:19pm Joe B:

restaurant aint open when you are loaded at 3 am!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

"I'm so hungry I could eat sushi from a gas station."
  2:20pm Figures of Light:

Ah, there's always a catch!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Today, it's sushi. Tomorrow, it's fish bait.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Mike East:

@John L - being independent doesn't mean you have good taste.
  2:25pm Figures of Light:

Ain't gonna be your beast of bourbon!!!
Avatar 2:26pm Perpetually New Listener:

Wish I could be there !
  2:30pm Figures of Light:

PF Sloan???!!!! Wow!!!
  2:30pm John L.:

They got busted for payola around 2004. I think the fine money went to some kind of pool that was given to real independent stations. There had to be a logical reason for them playing all of that Dave Matthews. I wonder what there excuse is now.
  2:33pm Figures of Light:

These guys should play Gazzarri's with Odin or something --
Avatar 2:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Independent' maybe just means you're not owned by some Rupert Murdoch Network - ?! - not that you aren't still Commercial & Corporate - beholden to Sponsors - taking cues from Focus Groups & Charts - nothing to do w/ people who know Music & find out about great stuff that ain't known by the Lowest Common Denominator yet - !! (Steve Jobs: Focus Groups - ?? How could they know about this yet & how cool it is - when I'm just inventing it now - ?!?!...Seemed to work okay for Apple shares...) Yeah - people in The Biz have always wanted to make money - but they also used to Love Music.
...It's the same in this way as everything else - recalled cars, bought-out Electoral Process & Govt. included...
Avatar 2:43pm Perpetually New Listener:

When Murdoch bought a tv station here he threw a party at Elvis Presley's house with Jerry Lee Lewis as the headliner. I was there....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm SeanG:

damn that rocked
Avatar 2:46pm Perpetually New Listener:

it really did...I had to babysit Lewis for an hour before he was called to the stage...
  2:47pm Figures of Light:

Money changes everything; money rules everything; money destroys everything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Sem Chumbo:

except the love of money.
  2:48pm Sissophonic:

Thanks for getting me through sucko work day, Joe! Been too busy to check in until now. Tell @Toddophonic that I'm requesting more World Cup songs! I'm a HUGE World Cup fan.
  2:48pm Figures of Light:

Well said!
Avatar 2:49pm Perpetually New Listener:

I'll be back in a few...my girl made me some matzo ball soup for lunch...my blood type is Manischewitz because I eat so much of this stuff.
  2:49pm Figures of Light:

Johnny is always so damned good!!
  2:49pm John L.:

A local musician does periodic tributes to full length albums, with full bands. Some pretty notable musicians play these. He is pretty young and recently got turned on to Big Star's "#1 Record." I guess this station partly sponsors these events. When he brought up doing a tribute to it they didn't think Big Star warranted something like that. He's still trying, I think. On the upside, a nearby theater is showing the Big Star film on July 5, with a Q and A with one of the directors and Holly George Warren. Anyway, thank the airwaves I can get WFMU on the radio, otherwise I'd have to resort to Wi-Fi at home.
Avatar 2:50pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

If it was Money for a Good Job still - that'd be okay - but it's Money for Money alone now. That's why everything is made crap, no one has a job or a living wage, & yet the Dow is gonna hit 17,000 any day.

Yes, the rich get richer, and the rest of us get screwed.

  2:55pm Figures of Light:

Surf's up - play more!!
  2:56pm Figures of Light:

The program is always too short -- would you consider becoming one of the living dead so you could work 24 hour shifts 24/7?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Thanks, Joe!
Avatar 3:00pm Perpetually New Listener:

enjoyed it thr4ee chord
Avatar 3:02pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Sorry for Rant, folks !
...Yeah - many FMU-Js oughta be their own continuous streams! Joe, of course...
