I'm proofing a textbook that mentions the Boston Tea Party. Seems odd to see that term used in its original sense.

I regret that college was such a time-hog during my Boston years. Lots of good bands I didn't have the chance to hear up there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
pacific standard simon:

Are The Beatles considered an un-hip thing to play on FMU? Doesn't seem like they're heard very often here.

Dr. Strangelove performs "She Loves You"? Love it. They've got a mix preceding "Hard Day's" at Film Forum with several Sellers versions, but they sure don't have that one.

Received my Marathon swag yesterday - including this Spazzy comp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
pacific standard simon:

Still no swag. :( My birthday is this coming Monday, so I'm hoping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm
Matt F:

Parq- they actually did have that one in the mix when we saw it the other day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm
Parq:

Really, Fiveash? I'm jealous! I just assumed it was the same mix before every showing. Knowing this, i dig those guys even more.

JohnK77, I had the pleasure of seeing Canned Heat perform live at the Fillmore East back in 1969. They were fantastic!

Mike East:

really wanted to catch Hard Days Night at film forum...I say that about a lot of films that only show in the city and never make it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
Matt F:

Mike, it's still playing. Thru the 17th I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
Mike East:

yeah...not gonna happen. Was trying to get a babysitter for this saturday to catch Planet of the Apes...which wouldn't be an hour car ride away, and I couldn't even do that. What age can you start bringing kids into a movie theater without issue?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm
pacific standard simon:

Makes you long for the good old days of drive-in theaters, don't it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
Parq:

Mike, it depends on the kid, and the movie. My own kid got scared easy. When her friends were seeing "Mars Attacks", she was getting nightmares from the trailer. On the other hand, she was fairly well behaved at movies she liked.

ru at work?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm
listener james from westwood:

I ran out of the theater during "Willy Wonka" when Augustus Gloop got stuck in the pipe. I was maybe 3 tops. Who knows how I'd have handled the boat ride through the terror tunnel that followed that scene.

yeah, john. got some rap group in today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm

@Parq- not too concerned about content...I've been desensitizing her to what I want to watch since she was born. Its mostly the being able to sit still for 2 hours without making any noise

about an hour and a half ago, I emailed a friend about a song off this Calypso comp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm

Whatever song it was, it was worthy of an email. This comp is killer!

That Love in the Cemetery track was what I've been missing in life. Thanks Matt.

The Bed Bug Song...Joe McG played some weeks back and it cracked me up.

I heard a great calypso on Irwin's show while driving on the West Side Highway. About ten years later I emailed him to ask him what it was. All I could remember was that I thought it mentioned "Hitler's wooden leg."
He id'd it as "The Walking Department Store" by The Duke Of Iron.
But I don't think it mentions Hitler's wooden leg.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm

Yeah man, see ya tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm
Matt F:

drr- if another band called the Stacks sues you over the name, "Hitler's Wooden Leg" is a pretty good backup...
