Hear this show now: Pop-up listen Pop-up player! | Add or read comments

Jeremy Bloom is accordionist and ringleader of the riotous young Balkan band Tipsy Oxcart. During his not-long-ago college days, he hosted "Beyond the Balkans" on Vassar College radio station WVKR. Tonight we'll hear Jeremy's distinctive take on a favorite Transpacific Sound Paradise theme: Cross-cultural connections in music, through covers versions, songs that blend styles from varied cultures, and multi-cultural collaborations.

...agreed : ) ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm Rob W:

Mauritanian guitarists love the flange effect - so much that a lot of them have it built into their guitars!
  8:13pm grassmother:

what's a quick way to tweet song playing without iphone? like direct link to that point in the stream.
  8:17pm grassmother:

this song is also awesome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm davex:

@grassmother: You can do that with the archive pop-up player.
  8:21pm Carmichael:

Heya Rob, hi everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm davex:

@grassmother: I mean point to the place in the stream. I suppose you can copy the address to tweet it. But then it gets complicated, I'm sure...
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Very nice, relaxing music as the sun sets here.
Avatar 8:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...is said Hendrix requested of Engineering that he wanted the music to sound like he was 'walking underwater' - & when he 1st heard Phase Shifting / Flanging (dif. stories of origin of the latter word from George Martin & others) he was a bit overcome & said it was the sound he had been hearing in his dreams...
  8:56pm ?:

ANYONE hear the song that was played around 8ish... they were talking about an event in the brooklyn botanicals and then the song came on... it sounded indian influence... the beginning was kinda slow and then this funky guitar just came in outta no where. it was great but i didnt hear the name of the song :( female vocalist... really good one too
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 8:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@? - If you don't get an answer to that, you may need to check the archive when it becomes available. I don't know what song was played. I think I started listening after that point tonight. Good luck with your search.
