Unfortunately, since I'm low on cash, and they're hard to come by, I'll only part w/ it for serious collectors money. (yes, it's all in espanol).

	3:58pm Cheri Pi: Great question C$, I was just at the used bookstore during lunch looking over typography books in order to get familiar with it for an exhibit I'm working on. But more imprtantly, how do you know what font suits you the best? I'm sick of Times Roman 11. Is their a font quiz?

So if cambria is the display/hed font, something with much less personality for text; either a totally conservative serif book or a totally medicinal sans, for contrast...? And yeh, what adrian said. "Bland" is another way of saying "highly readable" ... often that's enough to win..

	4:07pm P-90: @ Cheri Pi: I'm so SICK of "Cambria/Calibri"! Check out "Georgia" and 'Baskerville". They both make good "everyday" fonts and have a great deal more class and style than "C/C". "Futura" and "Engravers MT" make interesting title fonts, depending on the application. Just some suggestions.
	4:08pm Milson: Calibri has grown on me... I feel a strong dislike for Arial (the agency-wide preference)... I feel like Arial is the talking purple dinosaur of fonts... is it just me?

	4:09pm Cecile: P-90, I love Georgia and Baskerville together, but this is such a utlitarian project I could write it on paper towels and it owuld be fine. I'm just making it a little nicer so it will stand out on the bulletin board.
	4:10pm Cheri Pi: P-90, I'll check 'em out! Calibri is our default font at work but I personalize all my documents. Youwouldn't believe it but htere are some people here that actually use comic sans! Not only is it a font, but apparently a personality disorder too. who does that???

	4:13pm P-90: "Arial" is like the updated, hipsterized version of the venerable "Helvetica." @Cheri: BEWARE anyone who thinks it's cute to circulate memos or post notices in "Comic Sans"! It's a classic "warning sign" that something is WRONG.

	4:28pm P-90: One angle on "fonts and the 1980's": it was a period when corporations increasingly adopted specific (and sometimes proprietary) fonts for all their advertising and "branding." ex: Apple used its own variant of "Garamomd" in ads, on packaging, etc. in the early 80's, then switched to an "exclusive" variant of "Myriad"... The 80's saw a definite increase in emphasis by corporations on adopting "house" fonts to heighten "brand recognition".

	4:47pm Cecile: I just can't use it as much as I'd like. Nowhere near as much as I'd like. I think all my favorite typefaces were invented in the 20s.

	🎸 ♥ 4:49pm Carmichael: Yep, and that's why I use it, P-90. I read and write legal gibberish all the day through, so I need something easy on the eyes. Mrs. Carmichael is a huge Helvetica fan. Maybe I'll test drive it for a while.
	4:50pm Milson: @Carmichael... sorry to WTF... I typically must covnert all of my text to Arial for an agency my office works with. It drives me nuts...
	4:51pm Chris from DC: You should always choose a font that is not available to most of your authors, who submit in Word, especially when you need to provide them with a precise length estimate.

	4:53pm P-90: I would always choose Helvetica over Arial, they're similar. Helvetica's a bit cliched by now, but as I said above, Arial seems like just an attempt at an "updated" Helvetica-style font. Helvetica looks great on PowerPoints too.

	4:56pm P-90: Arial is also a "big" font, docs in Arial will typically take up more page space than most other fonts. Maybe corporate types like it partlybecause it makes everyone look a little more long-winded and "productive."

"Bland" is another way of saying "highly readable" ... often that's enough to win..

	4:07pm P-90: @ Cheri Pi: I'm so SICK of "Cambria/Calibri"! Check out "Georgia" and 'Baskerville". They both make good "everyday" fonts and have a great deal more class and style than "C/C". "Futura" and "Engravers MT" make interesting title fonts, depending on the application. Just some suggestions.
	4:08pm Milson: Calibri has grown on me... I feel a strong dislike for Arial (the agency-wide preference)... I feel like Arial is the talking purple dinosaur of fonts... is it just me?

	4:28pm P-90: One angle on "fonts and the 1980's": it was a period when corporations increasingly adopted specific (and sometimes proprietary) fonts for all their advertising and "branding." ex: Apple used its own variant of "Garamomd" in ads, on packaging, etc. in the early 80's, then switched to an "exclusive" variant of "Myriad"... The 80's saw a definite increase in emphasis by corporations on adopting "house" fonts to heighten "brand recognition".

	4:53pm P-90: I would always choose Helvetica over Arial, they're similar. Helvetica's a bit cliched by now, but as I said above, Arial seems like just an attempt at an "updated" Helvetica-style font. Helvetica looks great on PowerPoints too.
