You won't believe these six A-bomb survival tips! #4 is especially good!
  3:23pm

What Clark Nova wrote is true of small bombs, but not large ones (like atomic ones).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm

*Know your Own Home* I'm good, unless a nuclear attach coincides with "Black-out and Bar-b-q" Night at the Bunghole Tavern. I foresee something of a kerfufel ensuing, if that is the case.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm
Sem Chumbo:

*attack*
It is in fact, Blackout and Bar-B-Q Night right now at the Tavern:-(
  3:26pm

Up to a point, the effect of an explosion is greater than linear for its power, but past that point it becomes much less than linear.

Myth 3: "In most atom raids..."

Avatar 3:27pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Radiocativity is not the bomb's biggest threat! - unless it's the Neutron bomb - than it is...blast & heat are your *friends*...More BBQ than you can psosibly imagine, sortsfans...Hiroshima's 14 kiloton A-Bomb ain't but the trigger for a 200-megaton H-Bomb. I'm not sure *anyone* understands what that would be like...
Avatar 3:31pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& there are *thousands* of them...
  3:32pm
Robert:

No, even for neutron bombs radioactivity is not the biggest threat. There can be some short-lived induced radiation in materials such as metals from the neutrons, but mostly the immediate release of the neutrons themselves is what's designed to kill.
Avatar 3:32pm
Clark Nova:

at age 3, JFJO member Jacob Haas wanted his unborn brother to be named Jacob Fred (from interwebs)
  Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
BK M_N:

here you go- Jacob Fred is what Brian Haas wanted his yet to be born brother to be named when he was 3. Jazz Odyssey came from Spinal Tap (thanks Wiki)
Avatar 3:34pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Neutrons aren't radiation? Light is 'radiation'...oh well...that's okay then...
  3:35pm
Robert:

Depends whether you mean "what that would be like" to refer to the macro or the micro scale. On the micro scale, anyone who's been around an explosion of any kind understands what it would be like. On the macro scale it would be much harder to understand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
Mike East:

everyone knows the biggest threat from atomic attacks are the mutants.
  3:36pm

You said "radioactivity", which is not the same as radiation.

ELO's first album includes Roy Wood !!!
ELO started as an "art-rock" side-project to The Move.
For a period of one or two years both projects (led by jeff Lynne and Roy Wood) existed parallely.

Sex And Broadcasting (the book) name anecdote:
As far as sex goes, I would supposed you hard-pressed to find much raw naked diddling in this book. It's not that I am shy about offering you some passionate act of congress in the transmitting room, as the tube-blowers rage overhead. No: It's just that I really wanted you to buy this book, and my Great Aunt Beulah convinced me that a book with the word Sex in the title would double its sales, and quadruple its readership.
